Information About Elaine:

Personal Description:

I tutor National 5 Applications of Maths, am British and have a BSc in maths and science and an MSc in Forensics. These degrees covered a range of subjects including maths, English, life sciences, excel, powerpoint, essay and report writing. I also have a Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) Diploma and have studied French to an advanced level at the Alliance Francaise.

Teaching Experience:

My main interest is in tutoring National 5 Applications of Maths and Primary level maths however I have also been asked in the past to assist with other National 5 subjects.

In addition i have taught English as a Foreign Language to classes of students in Vietnam and France. I also home-schooled my children for a year whilst living in an area of Asia without a school.
I taught computing to the elderly residents of sheltered accommodation as part of a council volunteer scheme.
I also proof read and edited the reports and theses of International students at university.

Tutoring Approach:

I love teaching. I am very patient and conscientious, understanding that people learn at different rates and by different methods. I know that maths can appear daunting and that learning something new can be a slog and because of this I try to teach in a fun and imaginative way.
