Personal Description:

Hello, my name is Luis. I have over 11 years of experience in tutoring and can provide tutoring references as far back as 2009 on request. I am an environmental engineer working in the oil and gas industry, I have a PhD in Marine Pollution from the University of Aberdeen (chemistry and biology) an MSc in Ecology from Imperial College and 7 peer-reviewed academic publications. I'm Spanish and very passionate about science and learning in general.

Teaching Experience:

I have ample tutoring experience (11 years), starting when I was at University in Spain and I continue to this day in Aberdeen (and sometimes internationally via Skype!).

I was a collaborating student at University in Spain where I prepared practical work for students. In addition, I was a demonstrator at the University of Aberdeen (2014-2018), where I assist in the following courses in two Schools:

School of Biological Sciences:

Tutoring Approach:

Where students find difficulties I like to break down concepts into simpler pieces that then assemble to represent the entire idea. I also think it is important to let the pupil know the purpose of these concepts in a wider context so that they can appreciate the value of learning the contents of the course.

I am an advocate of enjoying learning and always endeavour to make lessons as fun, interesting and interactive as possible.
