Personal Description:
I am a semi retired Science teacher who specialises in teaching Maths, Physics and Chemistry to GCSE Higher and IGCSE Higher levels. I also have several years experience of marking GCSE Physics and Chemistry papers..
Teaching Experience:
After working in industry and being trained by British Steel in Metallurgy and Materials Science I retrained as a Science teacher and have have over twenty years experience of teaching Physics and Chemistry as well as over fifteen years experience of tutoring Maths. I currently work full time as a Maths intervention tutor at KS3 and KS4. My job is to removes pupils problems in the understanding and use of Maths. I am fully up to date with the requirements of the new GCSE 1-9 Grade Maths and Science exams.
Tutoring Approach:
I have a firm but sympathetic approach to tutoring as I improve pupils understanding and enjoyment of Maths Physics and Chemistry. With KS4 students I use past GCSE papers to evaluate their understanding of the topics covered as well as using them to teach examination techniques in the answering of questions and so increase their grades. As an aid to pupils understanding of a topic I use computer based teaching programmes.
