Jonathan - Limavady tutor
Information About Jonathan:
Personal Description:
Thanks for looking at my profile!
I am a final year medical student at QUB from Limavady, who is based at Coleraine. I offer tuition anyone in the Coleraine, Limavady or L'Derry areas in Science or Maths up to A level standard. Regarding location I consider myself very flexible, and am willing to travel within the North West of Northern Ireland, or if students and parents prefer, they may have their lessons in my own home.
I am free for all weekends, and during most evenings, and will strive to accommodate a time to suit all concerned.
I had to work hard in order to get the grades I needed to do the course that I wanted. I understand what it is like going through these exams, and offer a range of tips and techniques that I was able to use when I was at school, along with a few more that I've since discovered!
Teaching Experience:
I have experience over the past 5 years in tutoring all three science subjects as well as mathematics to A Level standard, and have encountered students of a wide range of abilities, whom I have assisted to achieve and in some cases exceed, their expectations.
I have built up a vast resource of notes, textbooks and study guides relevant to the syllabuses (particularly but not exclusively the CEA exam board).
For students in upper sixth who are re-sitting AS modules,
Tutoring Approach:
Every student is different, and so I spend the initial sessions getting to know the student, finding out his or her goals (especially grades!) and working out how to make it a reality.
I focus not simply on knowledge, but also understanding of scientific concepts. Equally importantly, I emphasise exam technique, to help my students understand how to best answer the questions sharply, in a way that examiners like, that will help them pick up the marks and get the grade that they want and deserve.
Time will be divided between learning topics in detail, then using past papers and mark schemes to help the student put their knowledge unto the exam paper on the desk.
