Eva - Balham tutor
Information About Eva:
Personal Description:
Hello! My name is Eva, and I would describe myself as a friendly, engaging and patient tutor, with excellent communication skills. I have an incredibly strong academic record (A-Levels: English Literature-A*, Drama-A*and French-A) and a genuine love for teaching young people. I feel passionate about bringing success and confidence to those I teach, and I aim to inspire my pupils to develop a real love for their subject!

Life Skills
Teaching Assistant experience:
Alongside being a performer/director, I have been a Primary School Teaching Assistant for five years, working in a range of schools across London, including SEN schools. This has been hugely rewarding and greatly benefited my tutoring skills.
Music teacher experience:
I teach Piano, and have experience with beginners through to Grade 5. The lessons I create are fun, challenging and encouraging - often finding pieces to enjoy learning alongside the grades.
During my degree I was given the role as music teacher, singing teacher and pianist for one of the productions that was being put on. I enjoyed this hugely, and found the work to be incredibly satisfying. The group was made up of university students who had a huge range of musical abilities, and I feel that I was able to attend to each individual's needs by giving clear explanations and ways to think about music.
Drama teacher/coach experience:
I regularly teach at Guildhall School of Music & Drama - including directing on their Acting Summer School course. I have also worked with degree level opera students, working on their acting skills. I have been invited back to Guildhall to be on their acting panel - which is a privilege and something I hugely enjoy. I am available to give coaching sessions for those applying to drama school or auditioning - I help choose monologues, and thoroughly prepare them, as well as give help with interview technique and practise. If your child is just interested in drama and wants to explore that further, I offer one to one drama coaching - which often leads to a boost of confidence and self belief.
Tutoring Approach:
I graduated from Guildhall School of Music & Drama with a First Class Honours Degree, and feel that this is a wonderful foundation for tutoring. I feel passionate about helping pupils with Maths, English, Drama and Music, and have been given excellent feedback. I feel very confident in one-to-one teaching scenarios, and I am sensitive to an individual's needs. I do not believe in "one size fits all", and am a great fan of finding out the right way and approach for everyone. Having rigorously gone through GCSEs, A-Levels and then a degree myself, I know how vital it is to feel confident in your own revision technique. I think it is also important to enjoy the process of learning - an element I strive to bring to all lessons!
Testimonials from tutees parents:
'Eva is a fantastic tutor and I would not hesitate to recommend to any family. She always makes lessons enjoyable, engaging our 10 year old as effectively as our 6 year old. I have seen tangible progress in their learning and they always look forward to sessions. Eva gives sensible homework and communicates helpful feedback to us too'
'I just asked T why he likes you and he said because you're kind and you make it fun and you're go go go! I am really pleased with how things are going as you are patient, you take cues from T so if you see he's struggling you'll slow down or ensure he knows it's ok to guess/not know and more than anything you seem to genuinely enjoy speaking to him. You're also very encouraging.'
