Agnieszka - Hammersmith tutor

Information About Agnieszka:

Personal Description:

I obtained a PhD in Performance Practice at Cardiff University, where I studied with Professor Kenneth Hamilton. I also completed a Master's degree in Performance at the Royal College of Music, London, where I worked with Professor Kevin Kenner and Nigel Clayton and earned a Bachelor of Music (Honours) at the same institution.

Regarding my teaching qualifications, I hold a PGCE and Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) from the University of Greenwich.

Teaching Experience:

I am an active pianist, accompanist and piano teacher based in London. I have extensive experience teaching students of all ages and levels, from beginners to advanced Master's students, preparing them for ABRSM and Trinity College examinations (including music theory), auditions, academic exams and recitals.

Since 2011, I have taught BMus students at the University of Birmingham on a weekly basis. I am currently a piano teacher at Cardiff University, an accompanist at the Royal College of Music, and a teacher in the Junior Department at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance in Greenwich. In addition, I teach Music at Lampton Secondary School in Hounslow.

Since 2004, I have developed both my performance career and teaching practice. As part of the Student Associates Teaching Scheme, I undertook placements in several major secondary schools in London. I have also completed courses in teaching music in early childhood (including nursery groups), as well as in primary and secondary education, with placements at St Angela's Secondary School, St Marylebone School, London Oratory School and Fortismere School in Muswell Hill. I hold a valid DBS certificate.

I have a broad interest in a wide range of musical styles, including classical, contemporary, pop, jazz, soul and blues. My experience as a singer, pianist and guitarist has strongly informed my teaching approach. I have also developed my composition skills and my works have been performed by soloists and ensembles, including pop bands, classical groups and vocalists.

My knowledge of music history is underpinned by comprehensive training, beginning with my secondary music education in Poland and continuing through my studies at the Royal College of Music, the University of Birmingham and Cardiff University, as well as my PGCE at the University of Greenwich.

Tutoring Approach:

Teaching is one of my main interests and a great deal of time and enthusiasm is devoted to developing my work in this field, as has always been my aspiration. There is a strong commitment to contributing to the development of young musicians. My Polish background, combined with studies within the British education system, provides a well-rounded perspective that I aim to bring to my students.
