Personal Description:

I am a passionate teacher and have always believed in developing overall academic skills of my students. As a person, I am friendly, empathetic and an understanding personality- that's what I have told by colleagues, friends and my students :)
As a teacher, I can be assertive when and if I need to be but I believe in convincing my students to get in the right track rather than using authority. I believe grades can be produced through a mutual working agreement between teacher and students, and you cannot 'make them work' unless they realise their potential. I like to support people around me and respect their feelings.
In short, I see myself as a people's person!

Teaching Experience:

Total experience of 25 years, during this course of time I have taught 16-25 years old, including at a Further Education College and currently I am teaching at a Sixth Form College. I have done some private tutoring work with some agencies, which went really well and I thoroughly enjoyed the experience .

Tutoring Approach:

Very flexible, use of interesting resources (BBC articles and other academic websites, MCQs and past papers). I appreciate that everyone has a preferred learning style and learning needs; it's important to adapt to the student's styles and level of understanding in order for them to gain thorough understanding of the subject. Learning shouldn't be temporary, consistent practice (through recapping) and assessments (such as tests/mocks) are required to boost confidence. My students enjoy working on past paper practice because it helps them to improve their grades, they also like it because I take them through each 'high order skill' required for each question before testing them. I maintain my thorough approach for each student I teach.
