Personal Description:

I am a mother of three children, one of whom is taking Spanish at A level currently and who I am tutoring at home. I speak spanish fluently as I lived in Venezuela as a child and worked in Madrid as an adult. I also studied Spanish at school and University. I thoroughly enjoy teaching spanish and as a parent, I know how important it is for our children to get whatever extra help they need to do well in their exams. Having the experience of getting my own children through their GCSE's, I have now decided I would like to offer my experience to help others. I have also taught conversational spanish and am happy to tailor classes to suit different needs. I'm passionate about what I do and enjoy seeing others learn, improve and grow in their confidence.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught computing in an adult learning centre in the past, but have not taught spanish before. However, having used tutors in other subjects for my son, and having tutored my son who isn't necessarily a linguist (to get a A*). I believe my fluency and knowledge of the language and more importantly my understanding of the syllabus and what is required to pass GCSE's/A levels is what is really needed. I am happy to teach any age group or level and I am currently teaching both introductory Spanish to young children, GCSE and A level and conversational Spanish and am happy to provide references if required.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe the most important part of teaching is to build a rapport with the student and also build their confidence and make the learning fun (where possible). Each student will have different learning requirements and therefore the teaching needs to be flexible to meet each individuals needs. I spend a great deal of time planning and preparing lessons as I teach a variety of age groups and at different levels and I feel it's important to adapt and plan the teaching and learning accordingly and use a variety of different resources, including books, worksheets, games, conversation and on-line resources.
