Information About Jacqueline:

Personal Description:

I am an experienced teacher of English and mother of two in my forties. I graduated from Greenwich University in 2005 with a 2:1 in English and history and then went on to study for a masters degree in English at the University of Kent in 2006, earning a degree with merit. After graduating I completed a School Centred Initial Teacher Training course with Kent and Medway Training, through which I achieved Qualified Teacher Status and a PGCE.

Teaching Experience:

I have worked in Bexley Borough as a full time teacher for the past five years and I am currently teaching English Literature and Language at Erith School. I have a successful track record with both individual students and whole classes. My 2011 Year 11 class achieved 100% A* - C grades (6 A*s, 2 As, 14 Bs, and 6 Cs). And, after taking their Language exam in January 2012, my last, slightly lower ability, Year 11 class achieved 84% B - C grades.

Tutoring Approach:

I am an enthusiastic and committed teacher and I take enormous pride in my work. I have excellent communication skills and feel that I make English both understandable and interesting to the students I teach. I am generally an organised and quite disciplined person, but I also believe that spontaneity, flexibility and humour can play an important part in creating a positive, productive learning environment.

I have my own car and I am prepared to travel to homes within a ten mile radius of my home in New Ash Green or areas within Bexley Borough (on weekday evenings). However, I am also happy to give tuition at my home.
