Information About Rosie:

Personal Description:

Hi, I'm Rosie and I recently graduated from the University of Oxford with a degree in English Language and Literature. I absolutely loved reading English, and am keen to instill a similar passion for literature in all my pupils. I am particularly committed to allowing those with additional needs to realise their full potential.

In my previous tutoring, I have been struck by the impact of education on each student's holistic development. Individual help and support can increase personal and social well-being, alongside the more immediate academic improvements.

Outside work, I enjoy playing the flute, reading, baking and spending time with friends and family.

Teaching Experience:

I have extensive experience teaching primary school, secondary school and adult pupils, over the past 5 years. I have also worked successfully in the past with pupils with Dyspraxia, Dyslexia and non-verbal learning difficulties.

Here are what some pupils/parents had to say:
Mother of 15 year old boy: "It made a big difference to his self-confidence." "You have spent a great deal of time preparing for lessons and producing your own work sheets tailored to ****'s needs. You have worked out the best ways to help him understand and learn-ie. visually, and produced clear, colourful study aids."

Mother of 15 year old girl: "For ****, your methods and overall grasp and handling of her requirements were 'tailor made.'"
"You never made her feel inadequate-just nudged her along building her confidence. She blossomed under your tuition."

Adult pupil: "Although it's been a stressful time for me, I have enjoyed re-learning these subjects. This is largely due to your teaching skills and bubbly personality." "Thank you for your patience, above and beyond work and your time with me."

Tutoring Approach:

I'm enthusiastic and hope to give tutees confidence in their own ability to succeed. I take a relaxed and friendly approach, but also expect the work to be completed on time and to the best of the pupil's ability so that lessons are a worthwhile experience. I really enjoy teaching and hope that students will also enjoy and look forward to their lessons.

I plan every lesson beforehand, creating individual activities and worksheets that are tailored to the student's specific interests and needs. My style of teaching is active and visual. I attempt to find original and exciting ways to approach topics, as I believe that whilst hard work is important, ultimately it is vital to inspire the tutee. This way they can reach their utmost potential through a combination of my input and their engagement with the subject.

I assist students with the sometimes daunting task of essay planning and addressing essay questions, be it at KS3 level or University.

Every lesson is different, as every pupil is different.
