Giusy - Lewisham tutor
Information About Giusy:
Personal Description:
I am a qualified teacher and have an Honours Degree in Languages: Spanish and English, The Cambridge Proficiency Certificate in English, the CLTA certificate and the Level 5 Diploma in teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector (DLLTS). I recently completed the Level 3 QCF Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement.
I am a very personable and open-minded person who enjoys working with people from different cultures and different ages. I am patient, dedicated and understanding person who is really committed to my job. I always try to get the best from my learners by creating and adapting my own teaching materials and my lessons are results driven.
Finally, I have a great passion for my job which I really love; moreover, having been a language student myself, I am fully aware of my learners` needs and possible difficulties when learning languages.
Teaching Experience:
I have twelve years' experience teaching Spanish and Italian at different levels and to various age groups, and I am fully aware of the strategies which are appropriate depending on the students` level and age. I currently teach the Beginners and Intermediate Spanish groups at Morley College. I also teach several Beginners and an Intermediate groups at ALL: Adult Learning Lewisham. I taught Advanced and Conversational Spanish to a group of 6 private students, at Microsoft.
I also taught Italian level 1 at Goldsmiths' University and Advanced and Conversational Italian at MAE: Merton Community Education. Also I teach Family Learning Italian/ Spanish at ALL, Beginners and Post Beginners Italian at Bromley Adult Education, Imperial College and Morley College.
I am a Visiting Tutor for the CLTA at Goldsmisth's University of London. The CLTA is a programme run at Goldsmiths' College and at the Cervantes Institute, London. I teach both groups various sessions related to all aspects of adult language learning: learning styles, language learning theories, languages specific skills, practical aspects of language teaching.
Tutoring Approach:
I speak three languages - Spanish, English and Italian - fluently and I have the capacity to read languages across a broad range of abilities, aspects and requirements. I have been living in UK for about 10 years and I have a good understanding of its culture and customs which I think is very important because it helps a lot in understanding the learners` needs and backgrounds. I am able to handle different levels in the same class; for this reason, I like to bring different activities suitable for different levels and ages to my lessons. I think students should never get bored and that learning should be supported and stimulating all the time during a teaching session. I have a good understanding of what is involved in language learning and this allows me to create manageable lesson plans and engaging teaching materials.
