Information About Andrew:

Personal Description:

I graduated from the University of Manchester with a BA in Classics in 2012 and an MA at Distinction level in Classics and Ancient History in 2018. I am passionate about the ancient world and also enabling students to realise their full potential in these subjects.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught Latin at two local schools (one independent, one state) and Classical Civilisation at two large sixth form colleges in the north west.

I have tutored privately for a number of years, as well as acting as an examiner for the two major exam boards offering classical subjects (OCR and Eduqas) and was awarded my 5-year continuous service certificate in 2019.

I have also acted as the course consultant for a major distance learning company which entailed making sure that their materials for the reformed linear Classical Civilisation A-Level met the requirements of the specification, and that their assignment materials resembled the forms of assessment as closely as possible.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to tutoring is fairly traditional, but student-led in terms of where the student wants to focus his or her time, e.g. general exam practice, problems with particular aspects of grammar etc. Homework is then set to be completed in between sessions which acts as reinforcement and consolidation for what we have looked at in the session.

I have experience in tutoring both face-to-face and online.

I also offer Ancient/Classical Greek and Ancient History.
