Personal Description:

I live in Darlington. I enjoy teaching and enjoy watching students achieve and progress. I'm passionate about my subject and hope to help students feel the same.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught for the last 17 years. My jobs have ranged from geography teacher to head of geography, head of humanities and finally an assistant head. I have taught both A-level and GCSE but have not taught the newest specification at A-level only GCSE. I have marked external exams for AQA for the past five years this has given me a real insight into exam technique something I am keen to pass onto students. Students would be able to get extra teaching materials from me as well as the added benefits from past exam papers and mark schemes. This will establish exactly what to do to improve grades.

Tutoring Approach:

I often find I need to speak to the student first to establish areas of the subject they find difficult and work on those. Also exam practice is very important for students who want to achieve. I can give half an hour - two hour sessions.
When I tutor online it is done via email and/or zoom sessions. Using email allows me to give the questions and then offer detailed feedback to the student. Students really enjoy this method as they can complete the work when it suits them. Zoom sessions are useful to help teach content. A mixture of both works best. I offer really concentrated sessions in the lead up to the exams to ensure students can do well in the exams.
