Information About Christine:

Personal Description:

I am now available to tutor online and in person.
I am a qualified teacher with 3 children, one studied medicine at Oxford and is now a junior doctor, one with a PhD in physics at Oxford and one who is a graduate physiotherapist working for the NHS. I have a degree in Applied Chemistry and worked in industry developing new drug formulations before having my children. I helped my children throughout the university application process so could give guidance on suitable subject choices for GCSE and A level when considering specific degrees or careers.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught A level chemistry, applied science and environmental science at sixth form colleges. I also taught the International Baccalaureate. For 3 years I taught at international boarding schools where the students have English as a second language so can explain difficult concepts in a simple way. The students completed GCSE and iGCSE Chemistry in one year instead of two so I am used to teaching in a concise manner. I am a chemistry examiner so know what is required to help students to pass exams.

Tutoring Approach:

Every individual learns in a different way and the main advantage of tutoring is being able to be taught in a way which works for you. I would do an assessment of the requirements and aims and then change my approach to each tutee according to their individual needs and preferred ways of learning.
