Personal Description:
I am a passionate fully qualified A-Level Psychology teacher with a BSc and ten years experience of teaching. I am currently teaching A-Level Psychology and studying an MSc in Psychological Research Methods to update my subject specialist knowledge.
Teaching Experience:
I have been teaching A-Level Psychology for ten years at an Further Education College (specifically post-16 education). I completed my GDTLLS (Graduate Diploma Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Section - Teaching Qualification) 7 years ago and recently updated my portfolio to achieve my QTLS (Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills) where I had to demonstrate the development of my commitment, skills and knowledge.
I am currently leading my department by implementing interventions with learners regarding Growth Mindset, Intrinsic Motivation, and Resilience. I believe these non-cognitive skills all have a significant positive effect on learners and their academic achievement.
I also have experience as a examiner for A-Level Psychology to ensure that I have a precise understanding of the requirements of the exam and mark scheme.
Tutoring Approach:
Due to my experience teaching in a post-16 setting I work collaboratively with my tutees treating them as motivated adult learners to identify their strengths and areas for development. I use this knowledge to tailor individualised sessions supporting students to reach their full potential.
