Personal Description:
I am an Oxford graduate who as well as tutoring has spent many years running youth groups based at a local church. Science has been a passion of mine since an early age and I hope I'm able to pass on some of that enthusiasm to my students.
Teaching Experience:
In a job where experience is vital, I've been privileged to tutor students for almost 20 years. It's enabled me to build up a good selection of resources, teaching materials and illustrations - as well as a very good working knowledge of the syllabus of all exam boards, including International Baccalaureate.
Tutoring Approach:
The focus of my tutoring is three fold. First, and most importantly - explanation. Facts are learnt so much more easily if they make sense. Secondly, exam technique. Many students find they know the material but struggle to then apply it to exam questions, so we'll spend a good deal of time looking at questions and working out how to unlock them. Finally, and not least, we look at reducing silly mistakes, which so often cost far too many marks.

- First Class Honours Degree in Chemisty, from Oxford
