Personal Description:

Hi, I provide a Science tutoring service based in Bangor N.Ireland, attracting students from the Greater Belfast, North Down and Ards Peninsula area. Unlike many others offering tuition, I am a qualified teacher, make sure that whoever you decide to choose, that they are qualified to teach. I am not an agency, franchise or part of a large faceless company. I offer a personal, student focused learning experience. For me, it is important that my students don't see the tutoring sessions as a formal extension of the classroom, I try to create an informal relaxed atmosphere that encourages the student to interact, question and discuss. Rest assured that you will not find a more experienced or qualified tutor of the sciences. I can provide many references to attest to my successes.

I provide high quality teaching, help and support in Biology, Chemistry and Physics for all Exam Boards. From Basic Skills through- Key Stages to G.C.S.E. "O", and AS and A2 level for Biology. In addition I can provide help with exam technique and practice.

Teaching Experience:

Lecturer in Medicine at Queens University Belfast, Lecturer in Biomedical Science at the University of Ulster, Lectured on the Higher Orthopaedics Course at the University of Cambridge, Tutor at Basic Skills, Key Stage, GCSE O, AS and A level. Examiner for University of Cambridge, Examiner and Member of Examination Board for Queen's University Belfast.

Tutoring Approach:

As mentioned above, I feel the teaching environment should be informal and relaxed to encourage participation and interaction. I don't ask the student to take notes, taking notes distracts from the subject. Teaching is facilitated through discussion of the subject, these discussions are accompanied by videos, diagrams and prepared notes. Progress and learning are assessed through informal tests, past papers and discussion. Past papers are also used to reinforce the student's exam strategy and technique. Progress reports are available any-time on request.
