Personal Description:

I am a friendly Science teacher living in Bath, working at a secondary school in Chippenham, with over eleven years of experience teaching in secondary schools. I am an examiner for the exam board Edexcel and I have been an examiner AQA for Physics for four years, which means that I have in depth knowledge of examinations. I have several years of experience in tutoring pupils, as well as taking engaging revision classes focusing upon exam technique and thorough explanations of concepts using a variety of teaching techniques. I use formative assessment, such as verbal and written feedback as a diagnostic tool to ensure I understand what barriers and misconceptions the pupil has to learning, and I ensure that pupils have targets to inform them of what needs to be done in future study. I give regular homework for pupils, and I can tailor-make tuition sessions for the needs of any pupil studying science.

Teaching Experience:

I have been teaching Science for eleven years in two schools in London prior to moving to Bath. I have extensive experience teaching all sets, from top set triple Science to lower sets. I take pride in my work and I am passionate about helping pupils succeed in Science. I do not know if I will be in Bath after this academic year, as my wife is training to teach at Bath Spa university. We may need to move outside of the area for work, so if your child is in year 10, it might be better to contact a different tutor for this reason, unless you are comfortable with this possibility that I may move in September.

Tutoring Approach:

I am well prepared before any tutoring session, ensuring that there is structure to the sessions, with adequate time for feedback and assessment.
