Philip - Southsea tutor

Information About Philip:

Personal Description:

I am a great lover and consumer of all aspects of contemporary culture. I'm an armchair critic of our wired world and will provide some engaged , pointed ideas for you in a relaxed and amusing way. I live in a large , friendly house in Southsea , full of books, magazines , vinyl albums and video/DVD's. This archive is the starting point for any help I can provide in essay/report writing, practical media construction and analysis or help with examination technique.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught in Sixth Form Colleges in the local area for over 30 years.I recently finished studying for my M.A. in Film and Media at Portsmouth University. I began teaching English Literature and expanded to cover all aspects of contemporary culture with the development of Communication Studies, Media Studies and Film Studies. I have been an examiner for all of these subjects and am currently a Coursework Moderator for Film Studies and a Team Leader for A2 WJEC Film Studies.

Tutoring Approach:

I have been a personal tutor at a Sixth Form College, assisting students with their UCAS applications and helping them overcome any academic or personal problems. I have helped Oxbridge candidates and students struggling at GCSE. I can identify any problem or area of concern and suggest strategies to overcome them. An informal supportive environment is offered with access to a range of expertise and additional help.
