Viviane - Liverpool tutor
Information About Viviane:
Personal Description:
A native French speaker, bilingual in English thanks to my British mum. I was educated to Degree level in France and have been working in England for the past 16 years. I have regular contact with family and friends in France and Spain, and travel abroad regularly. This keeps me updated with the evolution of these countries and cultures.
An experienced Teacher for all age groups and for different purposes, including adults and young children wanting mostly to enjoy learning something new or to be better prepared for their GCSE, A-Level or Degree qualifications.
I have experience of teaching French and Spanish at GCSE and A-Level effectively on a one-to-one basis and in schools. You will see that I have been able to support many students feel more confident and improve their results at both those levels.
I am passionate about learning and teaching languages and continue to learn languages myself.
Teaching Experience:
2003 - present Freelance Tutor of Modern Foreign Languages (French, Spanish, English) Liverpool, London

Students' independent learning at A-Level increased: some students chose to listen to the French radio, discussed the news, reflected on literature and led a French study support group. Students motivated by an exchange with a French lycée.
12 years experience teaching A-Level at Birkenhead Sixth Form College. 100% pass at A2 French and Spanish Eduqas board, with results consistently above national average and value added of up to 2 grades above what was predicted electronically. Teacher of French and German, maternity cover
GCSE students in their first and final year successfully prepared their written pieces for their exam to A*-C standards. I undertook the running of AQA oral examinations for my students.
Promoted and organised events for the European Languages Day and as extra-curricular activities to broaden students' understanding of the application of languages and their enjoyment of them. Took part in linking activities for primary school children.
Tutoring Approach:
Lessons are really tailored to individual students' needs, requests and interests.
I naturally have a friendly and approachable manner, and passion for languages, which make me ideal for one-to-one teaching of all ages or that of mature groups. This adds a personal touch and means that students feel at ease to discuss the aspects of the subject that interest them or to ask me questions and explain the difficulties that may be blocking their progress.
Where possible, the lesson is almost entirely in the target language when teaching French and Spanish. I may start with some English, but reduce this gradually as a student becomes more confident with listening and interpreting what he hears.
Lessons aim to develop good communication skills (when speaking and when writing), so they are based around the student using the language. Several opportunities are given to use the new vocabulary given and grammar is taught and revised for more confidence when writing.
