Personal Description:

I moved to Warwickshire from Kent in 2013 and I have chosen to settle in Stratford-upon-Avon. I have worked with children in schools; as well as helping to run a Brownies unit. Unfortunately I had to leave the Brownies when I began counselling training. I find that the listening skills I have developed are valuable when teaching; and especially when meeting parents or carers to discuss the requirements for tuition. I enjoy baking and playing board games as pass-times. I am also currently working as a Local Organiser, placing French students with host families for a visit in summer 2016.

Teaching Experience:

I have seven years experience of working in primary schools. My roles have included: teaching whole classes; supporting small groups of pupils with basic skills; and one-to-one phonics and spellings lessons.

I have been a private tutor since 2010. Parents and carers of children of all ages across the primary phase have employed me as a tutor. My experience includes preparing children for SATs and eleven plus tests, and entrance exams. Many of my tutees have had successful outcomes from these. I have excellent references, which highlight children's significant progress and increased confidence since working with me.

Tutoring Approach:

I have a calm and gentle approach, and I have a proven ability to make children feel at ease when working with me. I tailor tutoring to the individual child, taking into account their strengths and preferred learning styles. I use games where appropriate to reinforce concepts; and to make learning enjoyable. I praise children regularly to motivate them; and to recognise their achievements.
