Mona - Chigwell tutor
Information About Mona:
Personal Description:
I love to tutor children (aged 3-16) as it is not only challenging but also extremely rewarding. I believe that good tutoring can have a significant impact on pupils` lives. I am organised, reliable and enthusiastic and I work well individually and in a team. I recognise the importance of having a good sense of humour to establish a rapport with the children and to take a positive approach in establishing good behaviour. (DBS checked)
Teaching Experience:
I have 12+ year experience of teaching the National Curriculum on a one-to-one basis. Currently, I am tutoring different year groups children including SATS (KS1, KS2 & KS3), GCSE, 7+, 8+, 11+ Entrance Exam preparation.
My lessons involve going through all topics in the exam syllabus, learning the necessary theory and reinforcing the students' understanding through an abundance of questions. Homework will also be exercises which will aid their understanding. As the exam date approaches, I focus on past papers to ensure they are entering their exam as ready as one can be. I have always set the bar high and ensure my students extract the most out of their potential.
Tutoring Approach:
I recognise the importance of having a good sense of humour to establish a rapport with the children and to take a positive approach in establishing good behaviour. I adapt different methods of teaching depending on the needs and abilities of the child. Parents are made aware of the child progress after every lesson because I believe in learning whilst caring and sharing.
Developing students` full potential
Every student deserves the chance to reach the full potential of their talents and abilities. There are times, however, when normal school lessons and a large classroom environment are not sufficient to allow this to happen. I identify the student`s current level and the difficulties they are experiencing in the topic we are going to start working on and define the learning objectives for the session so that students have a clear idea of what they need to learn.
"...building confidence and removing barriers to understanding"
Individual tuition is a very effective way to identify and remedy problem areas, thereby building confidence and removing barriers to learning. Many see tuition primarily as a means to prepare for examinations. It can certainly make a substantial difference to the grades obtained but it can also provide much more confidence. I keep a continuous interaction with the student during the whole lesson through questioning and different activities in order to keep the student engaged whilst I can check if learning is taking place.
"...far greater benefit and satisfaction from their school lessons"
My lessons involve going through all topics in the exam syllabus, learning the necessary theory and reinforcing the students` understanding through an abundance of questions. Homework will also be exercises which will aid their understanding. As the exam date approaches, I focus on past papers to ensure they are entering their exam as ready as one can be. I have always set the bar high and ensure my students extract the most out of their potential.
