Information About Andrew:

Personal Description:

I live in Sutton Coldfield and work in Birmingham. I am currently a Head of Department at a high achieving selective grammar I have been teaching over 13 years and also work for three major exam boards. I have a current and up to date DBS as required in the profession. I have a passion for teaching and love my job. My aim is to inspire students to attain the most they possibly can and believe with the right support that I can deliver the improvement that other tutors can not. My teaching, tutoring and examination experience put me in a unique position to meet student needs at any level. My A level results for Economics are currently for both AS and A2, in the top 8% of the country and I demand the highest standards from my students. I would describe myself as honest and reliable and am happy to provide references and evidence of any professional concern you may have.

I am both a qualified and experienced professional with access to a range of materials from past exam papers, revision guides for all exam boards as well as my own revision guides/notes based upon my examination work. I offer ongoing support outside of structured lesson time. I have tutored online around the world and this medium allows much greater flexibility and is beginning to meet the needs of all learners. Although you may be skeptical at first (I was) I have been receiving very positive comments regarding online tuition and is an exciting new development that allows access to the tutor that most meets your needs from the comfort of your own home with the usual geographical constraints.

Teaching Experience:

I currently teach all the GCSE, AS and A2 Economics at my school as well as teaching A level Business. I work for three major exam boards, CIE international for GCSE and AS papers, (Econ) OCR AS and AQA for A2. I have been involved in examination work for over 8 years. In addition I have experience of tutoring all exam boards at both AS and A2 and have tutored first year undergraduates from the University of Aston and Nottingham.

Tutoring Approach:

Each individual has different needs. Tutoring is a student orientated service. Firstly, I would identify the desired outcomes of the tuition sessions and how we can achieve those outcomes. Depending on the individual this may mean starting by revising work that has been covered at school/college over a period of time but not understood or it could be regular support with work that is currently being covered. In my experience exam preparation and technique is of vital importance and I aim to teach and support students to increase their individual grade potential through knowledge of the exam, it is important that a student is well prepared going into an examination.

I offer both one to one sessions and also run online group lessons for 50% of my one to one fee. The great thing about this is the focus on exam technique and the addition support you can receive online and part of a select group. (You do not have to provide the group)

Above all and what ever tutor you choose it is vital that you get the right tutor with the right experience to get the best possible outcome, please email me to find out more.
