Rebecca - Brixton tutor

Information About Rebecca:

Personal Description:

I have a BA in English from Manchester University (1st class) and an MPhil from Oxford University. I am passionate about my subject and would love the opportunity to create a constructive intellectual dialogue with a tutee.

Teaching Experience:

I tutored Nathaniel in A-Level English Literature from October 2012-May 2013, and raised him from his predicted grade of a D to an A grade. He was my first student and I am keen to take on more. I received delightful testimonials from both Nathaniel and his mother, Francesca, which I will quote from here:

'I needed a miracle to occur and this is where Rebecca came in. She took the bull by the horns and changed my focus. Because of her I secured my place at University'. - Nathaniel

'Rebecca's commitment is second to none and her work ethic is outstanding. She is a remarkable person and an excellent tutor'. - Francesca

Tutoring Approach:

The most important thing to remember when studying English Literature is that the text is your best friend, and encouraging and fostering close textual analysis is my starting point. I am also keen to contextualise set texts historically and in terms of other artistic disciplines of the period. In addition, I am a skilled essay writer and will help with essay construction, paying particular attention to style and structure.
