I have experienced 5 Ofsted inspections and in all of them my teaching was graded as excellent. I have previously successfully tutored children for entrance and scholarship examinations for The Perse School, The Stephen Perse School, Saint Mary's (Cambridge ) Bishops Stortford College ,New Hall, Chigwell School, Forest School ,,Felsted, Haileybury and Brentwood school and have also tutored for the 11+ examination .
More recently, I have successfully tutored children for the entrance examinations to Eton and SSAT and ISEE examinations for entrance to private schools in the U.S.A
This difficult pandemic year 2020-21 I have had 100% success in helping students achieve places at the schools of their choice namely The Perse (Upper) , The Stephen Perse ,and Bishops Stortford College.
I have helped younger pupils improve their reading, literacy and numeracy skills.
In 2009 I was awarded Chartered London Teacher status and was made an honorary Fellow of the Institute of Education. I have also been invited to Buckingham Palace to receive an award for my contribution to education.
Tutoring Approach:
I believe that children learn in a wide variety of ways and adapt my teaching style to meet the needs of the individual child.. I encourage pupils to focus on what they can do rather than what they are finding difficult and by building their self confidence I find they make excellent progress. I am a very patient person and do not mind how often I explain something to my pupils.
I prepare my lessons carefully and always explain to my pupils the focus of the lesson and at the end of the session will encourage them to self assess how well they think they have understood and to talk about anything they are unsure of, this allows me to adapt my teaching in the next session to meet their needs.
If requested I am willing to carry out my own individual assessments and will advise parents on ways forward for their child.
