Christine - Whitstable tutor

Information About Christine:

Personal Description:

I am a married woman with two adult children who are now also married with children of their own. I began my working career teaching infant children before moving on to the whole of the primary range. I gain great satisfaction through teaching pupils of all ages watching them progress and gain confidence.

Teaching Experience:

I am a qualified primary teacher with many years experience working within KS1 and KS2. During the last 15 years I have tutored primary children on a one to one basis, working mainly in the areas of Numeracy and Literacy. I have also coached many children in the run up to the Kent test enabling many to gain a high pass rate. I have found that children not only improve their understanding and performance in these areas when taught individually, but their confidence can be considerable boosted.

Although the majority of my work has centered around primary teaching, I have taken some pupils through into KS3. In addition I have helped pupils achieve success in GCSE Foundation Maths.

One to one teaching provides a non threatening and safe environment where children can flourish, gaining much satisfaction and enjoyment whilst being helped towards reaching their full potential.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe that in order for children to learn effectively their efforts need to be recognized and encouraged - praise and feeling appreciated are an integral part of learning. I strive to make lessons relevant and enjoyable thereby maximizing pupil progress as well as ensuring the sessions are 'tailor made' to reach the specific needs of the individual.
