Lawrence Jonathan - Middlesbrough tutor

Information About Lawrence Jonathan:

Personal Description:

I am a friendly and informal person - an ideal qualification, I have found, for one-to-one tutoring, particularly if the tutee is initially lacking in confidence. In many families I have contined with younger siblings.

My "beat" mainly includes Marton / Nunthorpe / Ormesby/Acklam - i.e. south of the river.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught in a variety of secondary schools, both state and independent, holding various departmental responsibilities. I have a degree in Mathematics as well as a PGCE. I have taught throughout the secondary age range, as I also do as a home tutor. Although I am secondary-trained, I also tutor Year 5 and 6 pupils without problem. My A level tutoring covers everything apart from the Statistics component.

Tutoring Approach:

As mentioned above, I adopt an informal approach. I tend to start each session by looking at any problems the tutee may have experienced at school during the previous week. The remainder of the session is then devoted to a grounding in basic maths as required, and a revision of earlier topics. With exam pupils there is also an emphasis on exam technique and working through past papers.

Of course, you will want to be sure that you are getting the genuine article; therefore a number of my parents (or, rather, pupils' parents!) are happy to act as referees. As a further assurance, I will provide the first lesson free of charge.

COVID - I am fully jabbed.
