Personal Description:

I am a qualified Maths teacher, currently working as a Head of Maths at a school in Leicestershire.

I have a PGCE through Leicester University and a degree in Mathematics with Mathematics Education from Loughborough University. I have also been tutoring students privately for over 10 years.
I am patient, always willing to adapt to the pupil's needs and have a calm and easy going manner. All of my previous students have commented on my friendly and patient approach and my willingness to adapt any material to that which suits the student best.

Teaching Experience:

As mentioned above, I am a qualified Maths teacher and I have been tutoring for many years while studying at university.
I have worked in high schools as a Learning Support Assistant which has given me a lot of experience working with students who have learning difficulties, and the experience has also allowed me to refine a broad range of teaching methods. I have found that as every student is different, no two ever learn the same way. My aim is find out how the student learns and then boost their performance whether it is passing a class test or getting an A* at A-Level.
I am happy to pass on recommendations from previous tutees if required.

Tutoring Approach:

I like to encourage students to learn from basic principles and find that my students respond best from practical experience and learning how the difficult subjects such as Maths and Physics can have real world applications.
I tutor predominantly Mathematics at A-Level and I find the key to tutoring effectively is to put abstract concepts into real life applications and scenarios that the student is familiar with.

Qualifications:

• PGCE in Mathematics
• 2:1 BSc in Mathematics with Mathematics Education
• 4 A Levels in Maths, Further Maths, Chemistry and Physics
• 10 GCSEs A*-C including As in Science and Maths
