Personal Description:

Hello - I am a friendly and approachable teacher who is based in Surrey and uses a variety of teaching methods and techniques to help students consolidate their understanding, progress and achieve to the best of their ability. I have taught students of all ages and abilities and have received positive feedback from my students. I believe that questions should never be considered irrelevant or silly and that as each student is an individual, different methods and approaches may be required to aid their understanding. Teaching Experience:

9 Years teaching experience in Secondary schools. I have taught both boys and girls of all ages and also adults. I teach Latin to GCSE level and Classical Civilisation / Ancient History to A-level. I am also able to assist students with study skills, improve their English language skills and have knowledge of other languages such as French and Spanish.

Tutoring Approach:

I like to have an idea of what topics the student has already studied and which text books they are currently working from. The first session will be to find out what areas the student feels they are struggling in and what topics need more focus and consolidation. As each student is an individual, the sessions will be tailored to their unique learning needs and I will help them to gain as much as they can from each session and hopefully improve their understanding, their achievement grades and confidence in their abilities.

Qualifications:

• BA hons degree in Classical Civilisation including the study of Latin and Greek. Qualified to teach Latin to As level. PGCE teaching qualification and am currently Head of the Classics Department at an all boys independent secondary school.
