Personal Description:
Aged 24, I am currently studying Medicine at Imperial College on the graduate entry course. In 2009, I graduated from Cardiff University with a 1st Class Bsc (Hons) in Biochemistry, gaining a prize for the best final year biochemistry project.
Outside the world of academia, I like to think of myself as a jolly chap and enjoy hobbies such as squash, photography and running.
Teaching Experience:
Having a 14 year old sister, I have spent a number of years tutoring her as she progresses through school. As both of us have mild dyslexia, I have developed and applied techniques both for my own and my sister's benefit, to make learning as effective as possible.
Tutoring Approach:
Having been tutored myself throughout in the years in a number of different styles, I approach tutoring with an open mind and would try to match the most appropriate learning techniques to the individual tutee.
Methods that I have found particularly effective include mind-mapping and rather fun A0 paper summaries using chunky pens and any analogies/mnemonics/queues that may come to mind! Most of all, I would encourage the tutee to be proactive in developing his/her own styles of revision, aiming to help them achieve their potential throughout their academic career.
*Special Note* Regarding tuition of Medicine, University Level. I am more than happy to tutor the core science modules of a medicine degree and also anyone currently in 6th form looking to apply for a degree in medicine (covering UCAS applications, Interviews etc).
Along side the sciences, I am also happy to offer advice on interview skills, based on my successful experiences in applying for biochemistry, medicine and an industrial placement at a leading Pharmaceutical company.
