Personal Description:
Hello, I'm a tutor living in York, ready to help you or your child improve your Maths or Science!
I love teaching and am passionate about helping students not only to improve their skills but also to learn to love Maths and Science!
I'm doing my PhD in Electronic Engineering at the University of York, and I have a Masters degree in Acoustics from the University of Salford, and a Bachelors Degree in Physics from the University of Manchester.
I teach a wide range of ages and abilities, from young children (min. age ~8) and older children/teenagers (up to A-level), as well as adults.
I really enjoy tutoring and have a great deal of experience. Previous pupils have improved greatly in both skills and confidence.
I will be available from late June. I always try to fit in specific day/times but to be fair I operate a first come first served basis!
Teaching Experience:
I am a lecturer at the University of York (have taught the foundation year for 3 years now), and have extensive tutoring experience teaching both boys and girls, aged 7 to 60+, since 2010. I also used to be a beaver/cub scout leader, and I have been helping my younger siblings, cousins, and friends with their maths and science problems for years!
Tutoring Approach:
Working through problems / material in textbooks, talking through ideas and explaining concepts.
This varies for each student - different people of different ages have different learning methods!
Once I have established where pupils have gaps in their understanding I will help them to comprehend and consolidate these areas.
