Information About Elaine:
Personal Description:
I am a Cambridge educated graduate with a degree in English Literature and have worked as a journalist for the Financial Times. I have experience teaching individuals and classes in a range of age groups and class sizes and have helped students with school work, exam preparation and general improvement of subject comprehension.
Teaching Experience:
I worked as a full time teaching assistant for a year in a secondary school and then as a teaching assistant in a primary school for children who required extra help in basic reading, writing and comprehension. More recently I have worked as a private tutor for students preparing for GCSEs and A Levels exams in subjects such as English Literature, History, Media Studies, Classics and Geography.
Tutoring Approach:
I establish exactly what the student hopes to gain from tutoring and encourage them to enjoy the process and see private tuition as a time in which they can benefit from individual attention and ask any question that occurs to them. I also like to follow a structured framework for study so that students can see what they have learnt as well as know what is coming up. This enables them to explore a subject in a way that they find interesting as well as meeting their aims.
