Personal Description:
Nick is an Oxford English graduate who has worked as a strategy consultant and set up various businesses as an entrepreneur, including raising $5m in funding as Development Director for a military website in San Francisco, developing a 1m property portfolio in Notting Hill and the Alps and providing financial backing for the first two albums by a singer-songwriter from Brisbane, who has now won record deals with Sony and EMI and released a number one single in Greece. In his spare time, he loves playing golf, skiing and dancing:
- He helped win the southern and national team ballroom dancing championships for Oxford University and won a Half Blue for being on the winning team in the Varsity match.
- He spent four ski seasons in Mribel and Val d'Isre and lived in Lyon, where he learned to speak French fluently with the aid of a French girlfriend.
- He also spent 18 months in Brisbane, where he became a scratch golfer, and now coaches privately and at City Golf in London.
Teaching Experience:
He's been working as a private tutor and schoolmaster since 2009 after several years as a strategy consultant. He teaches English, Maths and French plus most other Common Entrance and GCSE/IGCSE subjects (and photography). He's based in Putney and has given private lessons to 541 students of all ages, including a member of the Qatari royal family and many with dyslexia, dyscalculia, autism, ADHD and other Special Educational Needs. He's taught Verbal and Non-verbal Reasoning to 67 pupils, Maths to 285 and English to 385. That includes 56 trainee teachers and 299 school entry candidates, mostly at 11+ and 13+, some of whom have won places at schools such as Eton, St Paul's and Winchester. He's taught 88 of his students online using Skype or FaceTime and carried out residential assignments in Belarus, Greece, Hong Kong, Kenya, Russia, Switzerland and Turkey.
Tutoring Approach:
Nick is based in London and teaches online. For example, after his golf lessons, he sends his clients email summaries of the points covered during the lessons. Clients have told him he is very patient, and his lessons have been very helpful.
