Information About Hannah:

Personal Description:

I am a caring, enthusiastic and bubbly person, who is passionate about working with, and teaching children and young adults.

It is my personal goal to ensure all of my pupils are encouraged and inspired during their lessons. I take great pride in how my tutorials are delivered, working really hard to provide all students with the opportunity to learn in a fun, safe and respectful environment. I aim to improve the confidence of each student in their specific subject area, and am devoted to helping your child achieve great results in their homework, coursework and exams.

It is important that I offer a respectful, trust-worthy relationship between myself, my pupil and their parents also.

I have a vast amount of teaching experience and run a successful tutoring business, providing an excellent service to all of my pupils.

I also have around 7 years experience caring for babies and children.

After taking a small career break to raise my own child and completing further personal training, I am excited to be able to offer my tutoring services once again.

Teaching Experience:

October 2009-2013
Private Tutor/Business Owner - From taking on my first pupil to building a successful tutoring service, I have privately tutored around 30+ pupils and have also mentored two tutors over the course of four years. Teaching pupils ranging from Key Stage 1 through to GCSE level, provided me with first-hand experience of the responsibilities of working with children and young adults and has allowed me to encourage pupils to learn in a style individual to them.

January 2012 - December 2012
Drama Teacher - Providing educational and inspiring Drama and Musical Theatre lessons to local school pupils aged 2-19. I provided classes teaching and developing drama skills and techniques and helped many students prepare for auditions. I was also a part of the creative process for school productions. My aim for every lesson was to inspire my pupils during their performing arts journey. I also used drama skills and techniques in a therapeutic manner with the intention of helping my pupils deal with issues such as bullying and a lack of confidence.

April 2008 - October 2008
Diploma in Child Psychology - I studied this particular subject due to my interest in how children's behaviour, reactions, thoughts and emotions develop through the early years of life. I enjoyed this topic and have learnt how important a child's early years are. Not only am I able to understand the environmental and emotional needs and wants of a child, but I also understand the support, patience, respect and care that has to be given to the child and their parents throughout their development.

November 2005 - May 2007
A PAUSE - In my first year of college I trained to become an A PAUSE mentor. Once I had successfully completed my training I travelled to local schools and presented the A PAUSE programme to young adults aged 13-16. In my second year of college I continued presenting the programme and also went on to train other college students aged 16-17 to do the same. Presenting the A PAUSE programme took me out of my comfort zone and encouraged me to respond quickly and prompt thought throughout the classroom.

September 2004 - 2007
Volunteer at a Local Church - I volunteered at a local church youth group which involved being a general helper, organising games and entertainment and also supporting and tutoring the youth with their school work. I have helped out at many of the church performances and have also helped to run the Sunday morning creche. This role provided me with the experience of working with children and young adults. I also took part in the 'Safe to grow' programme - designed to maintain the security of children, young adults and their youth leaders within the youth group and creche.

Tutoring Approach:

I strongly believe that all children and young adults should be taught in a style that is individual to them. With this in mind I make sure I establish my pupil's learning style before beginning our lessons. All lessons are then adapted to my pupils chosen subject and their specific way of learning. I make sure that the relevant information is learnt at the correct level, often in accordance with the UK National Curriculum, but do so in a way that is interesting and fun. Above all I make sure that I spend time listening to my pupil in order to address any subject difficulties, and continue to address such concerns until my pupil feels they understand them better. In cases where children over-achieve the work I have set them, I would then make it my aim to push them to complete and understand work of a higher level.
