Personal Description:

I am 49 years old and have been teaching for 20 years. Currently I am a senior lecturer and lead for initial teacher training at a university in Lancashire, and have experience teaching in Adult Education, secondary schools and undergraduates. I have a First-Class BA (Honours) degree in English Literature and Language, a Masters Degree in Literature and a Masters Degree in Teaching and Learning. I am also working on my PhD in Victorian Literature and its representation of education.
I am happy to tutor Key Stage 4 and 5 students, undergraduates, and postgraduate adult learners. I can tutor both in my home and the home of the tutee. Additionally, I am happy to tutor online.

Teaching Experience:

My main responsibilities have been as Head of English, teaching secondary school students at Key Stages 3,4 and 5. Currently I am responsible for programme management of secondary education courses, and continue to offer private tuition for A Level and GCSE English. I have also successfully tutored students sitting LNAT entrance exams (for Law Degree applicants).

In addition to my teaching experience, I am also an Examiner for Edexcel A-Level; this role includes marking scripts for the A2 exam in English Language and Literature, and attending ongoing standardisation meetings. I also mark the GCSE Literature Poetry exam paper, and have been a moderator for GCSE Speaking & Listening controlled assessments.

Tutoring Approach:

I offer private tuition in English Language and Literature, and my approach is friendly and relaxed - my main aim is to ensure that my tutees enjoy their learning experience and get pleasure from developing their understanding of Literature and the English Language.
I also offer proof reading services to adults studying Access to HE, degree, masters and Doctoral programmes of study.
