Personal Description:

I am outgoing, reliable and passionate, and have just graduated from University in Music and Creative Writing. I have 9 ABRSM grades (including music theory at grade 5) on the piano, and have consummate performing, composing and arranging experience. I adore playing the piano and have a broad spectrum of interest in composers throughout the ages, from Bach to Bartok, and thoroughly enjoy passing on my experience and passion to others.

Teaching Experience:

Throughout my gap year before University, I taught a number of young students - ages ranging between 6-11 years - the basics of the piano including grade 1 scales and arpeggios, sight reading, technique and posture. Though my experience appears somewhat limited, I have occasionally taught friends and family and am comfortable teaching all ages, up to a standard of grade 5-6. A teaching module was mandatory at University, which entailed tutoring a fellow student to learn a piece of music inside 3 months to a grade 3 standard.

Tutoring Approach:

I wish to pass on my passion for classical, romantic and contemporary music to others with a balanced and considered approach. I believe discipline breeds productivity, though a varied and interesting range of music and practising techniques will provide enjoyment for the student. Patience is the key, certainly for younger learners, and a friendly atmosphere is essential. Each individual is unique in their practising and performing capabilities, and I take that into consideration when setting tasks to be practised. I aim to be an inspiration for those wishing to be able to play to a decent standard, as my tutors were to me - at the end of the day, whether playing, listening, writing or practising, music is something to be enjoyed by all.

Qualifications:

• Degree in Music with a 2:1 at Bath Spa University
• 'A' in Music A-level at Bishop Wordsworth's Grammar School
• 9 ABRSM pianoforte grades including grade 5 music theory
