Personal Description:

I am an enthusiastic, creative and motivated person with a keen interest in the field of English language and teaching. I am a native speaker of Greek and I have been teaching English as a Foreign Language to international students of all ages and levels both in Athens and in the UK for 8 years. Teaching fascinates me as, to me, passing on knowledge about the language and the culture of English or Greek and watching the students' development is one of the most rewarding experiences one could have.

Teaching Experience:

I have extensive experience in Teaching English as a Foreign Language to international students of all ages and levels both in the UK and in Athens, where I am originated from. Greek is my native language and I have taught to several students on a private tutoring basis. In Athens I was employed as an English teacher and general tutor in a School of Foreign Languages, where I organised and held General and Business English classes for adult learners and for our students' parents. As general tutor of the school, I was responsible for the general academic management. This included the training and supervision of my fellow teachers, as well as the progress of the school's students. I conducted support groups for weak students and workshops for exam level students, which increased the school's exams success to 90%. I also organised and supervised meetings with our students' parents.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe that my non-native status of English facilitates the learning process for my students, as I am able to better comprehend and cater for their needs as learners, having been one myself in the past. I have always been a keen follower of the Communicative Approach in teaching, which ensures that along with grasping the structural aspects of the language, my students become fluent speakers of it. I also incorporate the use of modern technology in my lessons whenever such resources are available, as, with it being such a vital part of our everyday lives, I deem it necessary and hugely facilitating to the learning experience, as well.
