Personal Description:

I am a photographer with over 20 years experience as a freelance photographer and affiliated to several photographic agencies.. I work extensively on personal projects and widely exhibit my work and have won various awards. I have a keen interest in the history and critical appreciation of photography and have an extensive knowledge of key photographers, both historical and contemporary.

I was taught at university from 1983-1986 by influential photographers such as John Blakemore and Ray Moore, and have a BA hons in photography and film.

I am a thorough and patient photography teacher who is passionate about the subject and keen to pass on and share my knowledge with individuals and groups of whatever level or ability, and have indeed tutored many many students who have gone on to successful careers in varous areas of photography.

I have also been an external examiner of photography for City and Guilds, U.A.L and A.Q.A. I am happy to work with or mark/ assess external candidates work for exam.

Teaching Experience:

Over 25 years of teaching all levels of photography from GCSE through to H.E level. In particular, course leader of the very successful Foundation Photography course at Filton College.
Also have taught a wide variety of City and Guilds and OCN evening courses, and have ran successful overseas photography trips and field trips within the British Isles

Extensive knowledge of both practical and theoretical aspects of photography technical/ critical - Film and Digital.

Tutoring Approach:

Keen to pass on knowledge in a patient, exciting and practical manner, in order to instill confidence and encourage experimentation in taking and producing photographs. Keen to introduce students to the work of important photographers to enthuse and inspire

Also happy to help students on one to one basis, discussing project work and giving support/ advice until final submissions

Qualifications:

• City and Guilds certificate in further education
• BA hons in photography
• OCN in digital imaging
