Personal Description:

Hello. I am 30 years of age and as of Sept 2007 I have been a teacher for seven years. I have taught in a number of schools in England and Wales. In my current school, The Alun School in Mold, I teach Science, Biology and Psychology to AS/A2 level and previously Mathematics to GCSE level. I am able to offer tuition to individuals or small groups in all of these subjects using a pupil centred learning approach using IT resources (from my laptop!) and past examination material wherever possible to reinforce understanding. I work hard to make my lessons interesting and enjoyable. I have a proven track record in motivating pupils to achieve their potential.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught in a number of schools in England and Wales. I trained to be a teacher in North Wales and completed successful placements in Holyhead High School and Ysgol Bryn Alyn. My first appointment was at the Wellington School in Manchester where I taught Science and Biology across the age and ability range to AS/A2 level. I then moved back to North Wales Where I taught Mathematics at GCSE level at the Castell Alun High School in Hope. In my current school, The Alun School in Mold, I teach Science, Biology and Psychology to AS/A2 level and previously Mathematics to GCSE level.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe learning should be enjoyable. I work hard to ensure that my lessons are not only interesting and challenging but also motivate students to work hard to reach their potential. As much as possible I operate a pupil centred teaching approach where students are required to apply and consolidate their knowledge using exercises and interactive activities rather than just sitting and listening. Where ever possible I use IT resources (from my laptop!) and past examination material to reinforce understanding.

As well as individual sessions, small groups (no more than 3) can be accommodated. When a series of sessions are booked discounts can be arranged. Depending on distance to tutorial, reasonable travelling expenses will be applied to my fee.

Qualifications:

• Bsc Honours Biology/Psychology
• PGCE Science/Biology
• Open University undergraduate Psychology courses
• A levels - Biology, Chemistry, English
