Information About Lauren:

Personal Description:

I have over 14 years experience in tutoring and proof reading of university and high level documents. I have tuturored people of all ages including pre GCSC and post graduate. I also have 12 years experience as an insight and analytics manager. I graduated with MA from the University of Manchester in Business and the History of Art. I have an additional MA diploma in Art Theft and Forgery. My BA is from the University of British Columbia, Vancouver, Canada is dual major in Art History and biology. I have a strong background in business, marketing, analytics strategy, biology, History, Art, Theater, Literature, Geography, Business, e commerce, data and analytics, law and retail. In addition to this I have extensive experience in proof reading, study skills and reading and writing skills. I have worked with children with learning difficulties and all age ranges.
Throughout my postgraduate degree and through my numerous years of experience in business, retail and health care, I developed a variety of research and study skills as well as a strong work ethic that I would enjoy passing on. I am an enthusiastic individual and I value the importance of having fun while learning.

Teaching Experience:

I have tutored a range of students with different learning levels both online and in person. I recently completed online tutoring with a student who got 3 A* in their core subjects. I have been tutoring this person for the last three years. I also have experience tutoring children with learning difficulties including dyslexia. I have been tutoring in the British School system for over 12 years.

During my undergraduate career I organised and led student study sessions for both Art History and Literature. Upon completing my MA I moved into Business and have managed an art gallery, worked in e commerce, site merchandising and marketing and now work in business handling data, analytics strategy and insight. As a result much of my academic background is applied constantly through analytical research. I keep up to date on History of Art, business and data subjects and as a result my study habits are still fresh.

Prior to this I tutored students through a programme at my high school. This programme included students with minor learning disabilities including dyslexia and ADHD. I helped young students (age 13 to 16) in English, Science and Maths where I emphasise the value of both hands on and text book learning.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach would be individualised to the student. I would want to know the expectations or requirements of the student's program, then I would talk to the student and find out how they think they best learn; from there I would bring in my own learning skills to try and set up the best way to proceed. I also like to have a sample of their work to see where potential strengths and weaknesses lie, enabling me to work through problem areas. Depending upon each student, I will employ the different study skills I developed over time. I feel it is important to engage the student in their personal development as well, by encouraging them to set their own goals for our sessions. I would want to check at each session how the student felt things were going, and where more time needed to be spent.
