Personal Description:
I am an experienced Social Science tutor. I have a BSc in Psychology and a PGCE in social science subjects. I am currently working full time, teaching AQA A Level Sociology, Access to HE Diploma (Social Studies) and elements of Psychology on various degree programmes.
Teaching Experience:
I am an experienced teacher and have predominately taught Psychology and Sociology A Level for the past seven years. I have worked in grammar schools with high achieving students but have also coached those with special educational needs. I currently work in an FE/HE college. I have previous experience of being a home tutor for both Psychology (AQA and EdExcel) and Sociology (AQA and OCR) A Level specifications as well as providing online support for degree students.
Tutoring Approach:
My approach is to prepare my students for the examination. I foster independent learning skills by setting up situations where the tutee has to prepare exam answers as well as questions, which are then discussed, reworked and revised in the next session. I expect my tutees to be familiar with mark schemes, examiners reports and past paper sample answers. This learning is supported by various forms of media and techniques, including mind maps, quizzes and powerpoint presentations.
