Personal Description:
I am 43 years old and hold a Masters degree from Oxford University. I work full time as a tutor, now offering lessons online and face-to-face.
Teaching Experience:
I have been tutoring on a one-to-one basis for over 20 years. I also sometimes teach small classes. I am happy teaching children, teenagers, university students and adult learners.
Tutoring Approach:
My teaching uses traditional methods and lively interaction. I expect the student to complete tasks between lessons. Without repetition and revision no-one can be expected to remember. Therefore, I am not afraid to go over the most basic elements until they are well known. Solid foundations are the basis for confidence.

Training in Maths and Physics requires a clear, solid, understanding of the key concepts and rigorous logic. The best approach towards Maths and Physics is to allow tutees to voice any possible doubts towards the subject and then clarify them while making it more solid. After that, consistent practice with real life problems and Past Paper questions, under guidance, will enable tutees to fully achieve their potential, ideally.
Finally, people achieve their best if they find something interesting. All my students so far have always find my teaching fun and enjoyable, making learning much more easy and effective! I believe this is the key to continued learning to maximise one's potentials.
- Interactive approach, clarifying doubts and questions towards subjects
- Able to phrase concepts and theories in clear and fun ways
- Work on past papers questions
- Tips and Advice for exams
- Solid training preparing skills that applies to any subject

In the past few years, I have also been working as an A-Level Mandarin examiner. Personal Description:
I am a qualified teacher and tutor of six years' experience. After studying Physics at Imperial College, I taught maths and physics at a private tutorial college in Kensington before gaining a PGCE Teaching Certificate from the Institute of Education (University of London). Currently I teach physics at Tiffin Boys grammar school in Kingston as well as tutoring physics and maths. I am fully CRB checked through the school.
I can also provide tutors to cover other subjects outside my field of expertise. At your request I can arrange tuition from qualified teachers and experienced graduate tutors. Tutoring sessions can be arranged at our base in Wimbledon or at your home.
Teaching Experience:
I have helped many students to gain top grades at A-Level (AS/A2), IGCSE and GCSE, physics and maths, all major boards (Edexcel, OCR, AQA, WJEC) and I have tutored many younger students to pass entrance exams for independent and grammar schools. My students have gained entrance to top schools including Eton (King's scholarship), Westminster, Winchester, Whitgift, Trinity and King's College School. I also specialise in scholarship papers and have helped students gain scholarships, including the notoriously challenging King's Scholarship for Eton College and the Westminster Challenge. In addition, I have prepared numerous students for the 11+ and 13+ Common Entrance papers used by many grammar and independent schools: non-verbal reasoning as well as physics/science and maths. I also have experience working with younger primary school pupils, both in preparation for prep school exams and boosting general maths/reasoning skills.
Levels covered include:
• A-Level (AS, A2: Edexcel, OCR, AQA, WJEC)
• GCSE/IGCSE (Edexcel, OCR, AQA, WJEC)
• Common Entrance (Maths, physics/science, non-verbal reasoning: 13+ and 11+)
• Entrance and scholarship exams (Eton College/King's scholarship, Westminster/Westminster Challenge, Winchester, Whitgift, Trinity, KCS)
• Primary school
Please contact us if you would like to discuss a programme of tutoring suitable for your child or if you have any questions regarding tutoring.

Personal Description:
In July 2013, I graduated from Royal Holloway, University of London, undertaking a BMus (Hons) Music degree (2.1) with a principle study in singing (1st). I took two gap years before going to university to gain experience in the music and drama fields. I have studied modules at university ranging from Bach to Beethoven and Sibelius to Weill.
Teaching Experience:
In my two gap years I was a gap student at Bedales Schools for a term and then was invited back to cover a member of music staff. Responsibilities included teaching 8-13 year old mixed pupils classroom music as well as supervising music practices. I also tutored pupils through grade 5 theory achieving merit and distinction grades.
Tutoring Approach:
I have a very laid-back attitude to teaching and will teach you in similar ways that I have been taught. I understand totally that some pupils need several ways of explaining things so bring a variety of teaching methods to my lessons. I make teaching interesting and engaging and always try to relate the subject to the pupil. I have been very fortunate to learn under some inspirational teachers and would love to be able to carry on their enthusiasm to other students.

I have a PhD in Physics and BSc Maths/Physics Jt Honours 1st Class. I am a co-author of over 60 peer reviewed papers in science journals and was a research scientist for 27 years in the world renowned Daresbury Laboratory of the Science and Technology Facilities Council which helps keep the UK at the forefront of international science and technology. I ran the operations of a world class X-ray photoelectron spectrometer for a wide range of applications in physics, chemistry, biology and material science.
I am a qualified martial arts instructor and teach the Chinese Wing Chun system. I believe sports can contribute towards an all round education and under proper supervision, martial arts can offer health benefits and is beneficial for mental and physical discipline. Teaching Experience:
Although semi-retired, I am still passionate about science and after gaining my PGCE teaching qualification in 2012, I am now embarking on helping GCSE and A level students with private tuition. My vast experience in training postgraduate students and working with scientists in solving real problems both academically and in industry brings in an invaluable real life dimension to the learning experience of the students.
Tutoring Approach:
My teaching is conducted in a relaxed but studious atmosphere and is tailored to individual needs with realistic targets. I use effective questioning and past examination papers for assessment which allow students to monitor their own progress.
I was a 16 year old migrant from Hong Kong when I first came to England in 1973, so I can certainly relate to problems such as racism, misunderstanding of and by others, loneliness, lack of empathy and learning barriers.

Personal Description:
I am a French native speaker with extensive experience as a French tutor. I am currently working as a researcher at the university of York investigating how to improve second language teaching methods. I have always loved helping people learning French as I am myself a passionate language learner. I can also help with German since I have been learning it for more than 10 years.
Given that I love learning languages myself, I am highly aware of the difficulties one can face in this journey. Moreover, I have a strong background in grammatical knowledge because I studied linguistics and literature in the past (and latin!).
Finally, I am a very friendly, enthusiastic and engaged tutor.
Teaching Experience:
I have a long experience in tutoring with students of various ages and various learning goals.
Below is a list of the positions I have had:
-French trainer, Educom GmBH, Vienna, Austria: I prepared and conducted weekly French lessons for a group of adults at beginner level (2 months).
-French tutor, Lernkurve institute, Vienna, Austria: I tutored various pupils in French (aged from 12 to 18-year old).
-private French tutor in Vienna, Austria and in the UK: I helped an 11 year old boy, a 13 year old girl and a 16 year old girl with their French homework once a week and helped them getting ready for exams during two years. I started to teach French from zero to two younger girls (6 and 8 years old). Finally, I designed personalised French lessons during 8 months for an adult student who wanted to start learning French.
-French conversation: I regularly met an adult student (advanced level) to have conversations in French.
-French corrections: I have helped university students of French writing essays in French.
Tutoring Approach:
I like keeping French tutoring sessions as interactive as possible. That is really the only way of learning languages!
Depending on the students' language level and desires, I can teach French from scratch, help with homework, have conversations or prepare intense exam revision sessions if the student tells me in advance what he/she has problems with.

Personal Description:
After 37 years full time teaching maths, being an examiner with published materials, and for the last 25 years serving as head of department at a top, selective state school in the north, along with over 30 years of one-to one tuition experience, I have huge knowledge and understanding of how to help a student achieve their maximum potential
Hopefully my profile gives an insight to what I have gained from my professional career and how I can provide the support and help which you seek.
I am highly professional, totally non-judgmental and offer a relaxed, professional working environment in which students will feel relaxed, reassured and able to ask any question in full knowledge that any problems will be fully addressed at a pace and level of understanding which suits them and individually tailored to their needs.
All of this experience allows great attunement with the student, a deep understanding of their needs and difficulties and an excellent ability to address the problems with empathy and a great degree of patience.
Teaching Experience:
With 37 years as a full-time teacher of Mathematics and the last 25 years as Head of Department in one of the top selective state schools in the north, it would be a pleasure to be able to offer my experience to support, guide and help you in this subject.
During this time I have acquired a vast range of experience, navigating through numerous changes to GCSE, A-level as well as having to deal with the impact of Covid.
I have taught the full spectrum across GCSE and A-level, where my abilities to understand a pupil's difficulties and quest to achieve their potential in the subject is at the forefront of my work.
I have had many years as an A-level examiner, author of specimen examination papers for a major education publisher as well as having participated in projects on mathematical education from a European Research Institute.
Along with all of my classroom experience and expertise, I also have over thirty years experience of one-to-one private tuition with a wide variety of students whether they be local, resident in the UK or students from the USA or the Far East
Tutoring Approach:
Behind every target and expected grade, it must be remembered that each student is a unique individual. This has been at the heart of my teaching and tutoring over all these years. After an initial discussion, in which I get to know about your difficulties and goals, there would be a plan designed to address these and tailored made just for yourself.
In our tutor sessions I would offer you a highly professional, yet friendly, working bridge where you feel comfortable and relaxed. You know that you would be free to ask any question, confident that your understanding and ability is progressing forward and that I will always be non-judgmental.
Whilst every session would have a clear target and goal, combined with a sense of achievement, they have to be highly flexible. It may be that we need to take a sidestep to strengthen previous knowledge or alternatively, using my experience, prepare for something which lies ahead. You will feel reassured that my insight and knowledge is ensuring progress is as smooth as possible.
We will always work at a rate comfortable for you and build up and strengthen your knowledge and ability to apply it, as we progress. A solid understanding of especially 'why am I doing this', is very important.
Essential to your progress is the need to use your knowledge and understanding in not only 'standard textbook/worksheet questions' but those set in unfamiliar context as your final exam (or test/end of year) paper will be a mixture. Hence undertaking extra 'homework', will be an essential component to your progress in the subject. I will always ensure you feel prepared to undertake this work which will serve to practice basic understanding as well as pushing you into thinking carefully about how to apply your working knowledge. We would always agree a manageable amount to be completed by an agreed deadline. However, I may also need to be flexible with this as, of course, workloads and pressures can vary during a school year. The fact that you are comfortable raising this issue, means that we can easily work around the matter and reach a solution which eases the situation for you.
I would also offer all my support and experience in helping you prepare for any tests or final exams. There is a lot which can be done to help you mathematically, mentally and psychologically prepare for these stressful events.
Also provided as the result of every lesson, will be a pdf of the notes and work we undertook in a session. This maximises the learning potential in a session as the student is focused on the work being done and undertaking worked questions, and removing the need to 'take notes' and 'keep up'.

Personal Description:
My name is Sandra. I'm a native Portuguese speaker from Portugal. I've been teaching European Portuguese in the UK for over 6 years. I have been teaching Portuguese at all levels (A1/A2 - Beginners; B1/B2 - Intermediate; C1/C2 - advanced) and skills (speaking, listening, reading comprehension, writing, grammar). I am a qualified teacher (Master's Degree in Education from the University of Coimbra, Portugal. I am certified to teach Early Childhood, Elementary Education, high school and adults) and a MFL teacher (Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL and ESOL courses) and the GCSE/A level Portuguese and Spanish course from the King's College, London).
Teaching Experience:
When I started teaching Portuguese to new students (adults and children), I told them to use all the words in Portuguese they already knew. From the first minute, we will talk, listen and think in Portuguese. With me, you will learn to speak Portuguese like a real native, including all the expressions that you cannot find in the textbook. You will learn to read books and websites and even to watch Portuguese-speaking series/movies. Our lessons won't seem like traditional learning: you are going to have fun and will be waiting for the next class.
Tutoring Approach:
My lessons are the full hour (60 minutes or more, but never less!). I provide email support to my students and original class materials (pronunciation and grammar) for free.

Personal Description:
I am an RCA MA Painting graduate, and I have a BA(Hons) degree in Fine Art from Westminster University, and a Foundation diploma in Art & Design from the University for the Creative Arts. I am a practicing artist based in London, specializing in painting, and I have been showing my work nationally and internationally. My recent solo show was at Class Reiss London, and I also had a solo presentation at Art Athina. My fascination with tutoring derives from my sensitivity around learning disabilities, something which is a recurring theme in my practice as I grew up as a dyslexic learner, as well as my educational experience of being part of leading academic UK institutions.
Teaching Experience:
Through my work as an art tutor I strive to inspire and support my students, offering insight to my experience as a RCA alumnus and to the professional life of an artist. I teach students of all ages, as I strongly believe that involvement with the arts is always eye opening and revealing, especially when this leads to a career in the arts through higher education.
Tutoring Approach:
I can offer art lessons for younger children, involving introduction to creative techniques and idea development, mentoring and support with portfolio preparation to apply for art schools internationally as well as tutoring on contextualizing your work through constructive and generative feedback.

Personal Description:
I am a Final Year Postgraduate Medical Student at Newcastle University. Graduated from Clinical Sciences in 2020. Alongside medicine I work with Multinational companies in marketing and help in the running of major events such as Fashion Week. Being able to balance these responsibilities is something I take great pride in and the skills to do so are something I look to instil into my students.
Teaching Experience:
I have been guiding people through the medical school application process for years. I cover everything from Interview preparation, to Personal Statements, to my own UCAT masterclass. I have been doing one-to-one sessions online for 4 years now. As part of medicine you are expected to educate those less experienced than you. I have run sessions for medical student in clinical skills, specific modules such as Emergency medicine and cardiology and OSCE preparation
Tutoring Approach:
I need to understand the person I am talking to, we'll start off with a short initial encounter so we can both understand what you're trying to get out of the session.
My experience as a sports coach has also enlightened me to the psychological side of education. We can often get in our own way when trying to maximise our achievements. Don't let that be you.
The little things matter. The nature of the medical field means the highest achieving students from all over the world compete against one another for a finite amount of places. Get in contact and I'll show you how to set yourself apart instantly.
