Although I learned all my foreign languages through a rigorous method very much based on writing and grammar, I am happy to adapt my method to my pupil's needs. Half French/half Scottish, I was born and brought up in France to Scottish parents. I am now based in London, but Paris is still home for me. Studying French and Spanish at University College London gave me the incredible opportunity to live in Madrid for a year, where I became fluent in Spanish. I do not have any official qualifications in Italian, however my background in romance languages (Italian is a Latin-based language which, broadly speaking, I find to have a very similar vocabulary to Spanish with the grammar of French!) and my methodical nature means I would ensure that every lesson is thoroughly planned and carefully checked; I would never teach you anything I am unsure of, as this can be greatly detrimental. I am not available to help with exam preparation for Italian or to teach more advanced levels. Perfect exam grade record - in my mixture of reformed and unreformed GCSEs I achieved 5 9s, 6 A*s and and A^(A**) in Further Maths. A* in EPQ. Centre assessed 3 A*s in Maths, Further Maths and Economics A Levels (Calculated grades were 2 A* and A in Further Maths). I am studying Economics at Durham University from September 2021.

I am bilingual in Italian and English after living in Italy for 20 years, I also am fluent in Spanish and French from learning those languages at school from the age of 7. I like to teach by combining text book based learning with practical use of the language I am teaching so for example a typical lesson might start with reviewing the exercises set out in a textbook such as answering a series of questions on a writing passage and then moving into a more conversational type of lesson where we would discuss our plans for the weekend in the language being taught or try some practical exercises such as making a plate of food using the language being taught.

I also offer computer studies lessons where I can t we achieve students how to use Microsoft Office software such as Excel, Word and PowerPoint or also more advanced packages and languages such as SQL and Power BI/Tableau.
