Tutoring Approach:
Although I learned all my foreign languages through a rigorous method very much based on writing and grammar, I am happy to adapt my method to my pupil's needs. Personally, I believe that conversation is the key to becoming fluent in a language, but at the same time I do not neglect the importance of writing and reading comprehension. I understand that not everyone learns a language at the same rate and speaking in a foreign language takes courage and self-confidence. In my classroom there are always ground rules: we are all here to learn, we learn from each other and we must respect each other.

The other very important aspect for me is making sure that the level of proficiency is correctly assessed. If the classes are too challenging or too basic, a negative environment not conducive to learning is created. Even if proper evaluation is made before the groups are formed, there will always be differences inside the classroom. I, as a teacher, try to be as aware as possible of this factor and strive to use that for the good of the group. Pairing a strong student with someone not as strong usually helps. Another important issue that I try to be as aware as possible is preventing the strong students from taking over the exercises and leaving behind other students that, because of either lack of confidence or not being at the same level, stop themselves from actively participating in class. In my classes, I make sure that everyone is heard and that I can evaluate progress of all my students.

I have also taught IB Diploma Level: Spanish Standard and Higher Levels; Mandarin ab initio. I have taught A Level and Cambridge Pre-U in both languages for a number of years. All my pupils have achieved top results.

Tutoring Approach:
I believe that everyone learns differently and I will first spend time getting to know exactly what is needed, and how the individual learns best before coming up with a personalised plan. I believe my strongest ability is an adaptability to meet the varying needs of the pupil as, generally, this is why tuition is being sought beyond the school curriculum.

In terms of academic structure, I would aim to follow a curriculum but have the flexibility to pause where needed. I am a firm believer that confidence is an essential part of learning a language, and I hope to give my pupils the confidence that they need.

Lastly, but equally as important, language learning should be engaging and fun. I strive to keep a healthy balance in this. So often I meet pupils who have initially fallen out of love with a subject and bringing them back on board is essential. Whilst the emphasis is always on academic progress, lessons will always be enjoyable.

Hello! I'm a Colombian filmmaker and a native Spanish speaker, and I'm genuinely enthusiastic about sharing my two passions with you.

In Film Studies, my background is multidisciplinary, with a specialization in post-production, animation, and sound design. I bring a practical, creative approach to lessons, showing you how technical skills like editing directly contribute to powerful storytelling.

Teaching Experience:
Film:
I have worked as a teaching assistant for a senior lecturer at the National University of Colombia. Specifically, for the first production workshop that new students will encounter during the film and television production BA. I encouraged student to experiment with their project and to get a good foundation of critical concepts for film making associated to the audiovisual narrative.

Spanish:
I haven't taught Spanish as a second language; however, I have taught English to adults and kids as a personal tutor. I would usually identify their goals and then help them to achieve them.
