Personal Description:
I am a native Spanish speaker with teaching experience in Italy, Spain and the UK.
I have worked as a translator and now hold the position of Lead Teacher of Spanish with French at a secondary School. I also hold a qualification in Italian which together with my teaching experience in the country provide me with a deep Knowledge of the language.

I have always been passionate about languages and I strongly believe I can transmit this to my pupils.

Teaching Experience:
-April 2009 to present: Secondary school teacher of French and teacher in charge of Spanish. During this time I have given extra tuition for French and Spanish to three school pupils and all of them achieved A*. Home tution for Italian, Spanish and French.

-January 2008 to April 2009: I worked in various schools around the county as a MFL and music teacher. Two of this positions were for several months.

-2006: Teacher of English as a Second Language in Spain.

-2004-2005: Teacher of Spanish for the Politecnico university of Turin. I also worked as a translator during my time in Italy. This employment proved very rewarding from the intellectual point of view as made strive to get translations as close to the original language as possible.

2003: Volunteer teacher of Spanish and English as a Second Language at a charity organisation in Spain.

¡Hola! I am Alba. I was born in the south of Spain and have lived there for the majority of my life. I did Spanish Studies as a degree in Huelva (near Seville), and later enrolled in an MA for Spanish Teaching as a Foreign Language in my home town, Granada. Hello my name is Anne-Marie, I am from Ireland but have been living in the UK since 2004. This is now a place I call home. Teaching Experience:
My most significant educational experience comes from teaching in an English School in Mexico, which was a rewarding experience. I normally sit next to pupils who struggle with Spanish so they do not feel left behind by the others. I patiently help them to complete their activities, motivate them and encourage them to study harder. Furthermore, I was assigned to support Year 11 students to help them reinforce their speaking, vocabulary and grammar skills in order to succeed in their GCSE Spanish exams.

I am a PhD candidate at Cardiff University, where I research contemporary forms of subtitling. I have a Master's Degree in Translation Studies - for which I received a high Distinction and Best Postgraduate Dissertation - and a Bachelor's Degree in French and Spanish - for which I was awarded First-class Honours and an Excellence Scholarship. I have amassed a broad range of teaching and coaching experiences in recent years. These include, most recently, preparing and delivering seminars on Spanish and French language, translation, and culture to undergraduate students at Cardiff University. This has entailed gauging and adapting to the varied abilities of an entire cohort, producing learning materials that will guide and challenge different students appropriately, and providing bespoke, individual feedback to ensure each student's personal development. I am currently performing this teaching role face-to-face, but had until recently done so online due to the pandemic. As such, I feel comfortable engaging with my students in either setting.
