I graduated from Cambridge University with a BA in English Literature, and then from the Guildhall School of Music & Drama, graduating with a BA in acting, where I was the recipient of the Noel Coward Scholarship from 2008-2011. In July 2011 I won the Michael Bryant Award at the National Theatre, for verse speaking and Shakespeare.

When I'm not acting or tutoring I can be found in the plumbing, plastering, kitchen or grappling with a cryptic crossword.

My approach to tutoring is tailored to the individual's needs; firstly finding ways of fully explaining a concept, then cementing them with useful and memorable material to build students' confidence. My main objective would be to aid the student in understanding not only the specifics of the work but also the broader aspects of it, which I believe provides a truer grounding in - and enjoyment of - a subject. By making the work useful and enjoyable, and by finding alternative and effective approaches to study, I hope that my tuition will shed new light on subjects for students.

My passion is building confidence and fostering resilient approaches to problem solving.

I specialise in tutoring Maths and particularly enjoy helping those students whose confidence in the subject has become a barrier to their learning and enjoyment of the subject.

I've been tutoring Maths, Science and English since 2007, for ages 5 to 50. However, I mostly help teenagers with their SATs, GCSEs and A Levels.

Maths, Science and English are the three main subjects that people tend to want tutoring in. (Actually it's five subjects if you break the Science down into Biology, Chemistry and Physics.)

Anyway, as I tutor all of these subjects, my students find it very useful that I can potentially cover a different subject each week, or I can do two hours a week and cover a different subject in each hour.

This obviously makes it much easier for the parents too, because they don't have to find a separate tutor for each subject, or leave their child without the valuable one-to-one support in any of the core subjects.

Academic experience: I have worked in private tutoring, state and private schools, university departments and know how examiners mark and what they expect. Hello, I am a well qualified, BA, MPhil, PGCE teacher who is looking to branch out into more private tutoring work. I have privately tutored for many years and have experience since 1996. I am a professional geography researcher specialised in regional geography and urban sciences. I have gained my knowledge and expertise from universities across Europe (Pécs, Wolverhampton, Maribor, Zagreb, and Ljubljana). I am currently a PhD Aspirant at the University of Pécs, Hungary.

I have been mainly researching in the field 'geography of energy', but my interests link my specification to other scientific disciplines such as sustainability, environmental sciences, and landscape geography, and I am able to perform and combine various geographical fields.

During my years as a PhD Student, I was given the chance to gain experience as a lecturer; teaching subjects which included: renewable energy resources and world regional geography. In 2015, I officially became a teacher after successfully completing my PGCE at the Birmingham City University in England.

Being a 'good' teacher is a subjective opinion that I cannot state about myself. I am experienced in a wide-range of teaching environments from primary/secondary school-aged pupils to adult/prison learning and higher education.

Geography is not only my profession, but is also my hobby that is present in my life with all of its aspects, whether it be examining a piece of rock or talking about coffee beans, I can discuss both in an academic sense as well as out of personal interest. The diverse use of language therefore is important when encouraging others on geography and the key is to find a common interest between subject and receiver for them to understand and to be inspired by what they are learning. For example, when teaching in the prison, Mathematics combined with Geography suddenly becomes more interesting and therefore engaging.

For a researcher with a deep understanding about the Earth's mechanisms, Geography will always reserve a high number of mysteries. Research is the foundation for everything that is taught and this will always be exciting for me to do. I have a BA Honours Degree in English Studies from Aleppo University in Syria in 2000. I embarked on two Postgraduate Diplomas at Aleppo University one in Linguistics (2002); the other in Education and Qualification in 2003. In both of these Diplomas I was awarded a Distinction. In 2002, I was fortunate in gaining a scholarship to study in the UK and was nominated to study in the department of Language and Linguistics at the University of Essex. I found this course to be immensely useful to me as a TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) professional as I was able to observe a range of different EAP (English for Academic Purposes)classrooms; make academic presentations and really developed my love of scholarship which fired me with the enthusiasm to read for a PhD degree. I finished my doctorate in TESOL at the University of Ulster entitled "EAP Teachers Approaches to Giving Written Feedback on Academic Writing in British and Syrian ELT Centres". . I am extremely interested in teaching the language skills (as my recent doctorate shows). I am extremely hard working and sociable. I have good comparative knowledge of Western and Islamic societies which I could share with students where pertinent. It is the application of an integrating approach for the development of communicative skills in the lesson, in which the four skills in the acquisition of knowledge of a foreign language can be taught in a coherent way, and practiced together, with a distinction of the importance of one upon the other. One image for teaching English as a second or foreign language (ESL/EFL) is that of a tapestry. The tapestry is woven from many strands, such as the characteristics of the teacher, the learner, the setting, and the relevant languages (i.e., English and the native languages of the learners and the teacher). For the instructional loom to produce a large, strong, beautiful, colorful tapestry, all of these strands must be interwoven in positive ways. For example, the instructor's teaching style must address the learning style of the learner, the learner must be motivated, and the setting must provide resources and values that strongly support the teaching of the language. Hi, I'm Anna. I'm an author and a poet, I have had many poems published, won first prize in an international poetry competition (2011) and have also brought out two collections, which are on sale on Amazon. In 2015 I published my memoir A Hippopotamus at the Table. Set in South Africa in the 1970s. I'm about to publish my second memoir and published a book called Writing Memoir. How to Write a Story from Your Life in 2017. Formerly I taught memoir writing to small groups. I have a blog which is updated regularly with articles about writing, poetry, my travels and events.

I taught in Adult Education at a variety of colleges for approximately 10 years (until 2000) - my main subject was Ancient Egyptian History - one of the colleges was Birkbeck University (University of London) I taught undergraduates. I ran a class for a number of years before that for City University on Ancient Egyptian History. For 6 years I taught Information Technology (seminars) at London Metropolitan University, to first year undergraduates. More recently (2000-2014) I worked in Criminal Justice delivering Cognitive Behavioural programmes to offenders and also on another programme supporting victims of violence.

My approach to tutoring is Socratic in delivery, to draw from the student what they know, what their interests are and expand on that. I like to bring students to poetry, and know about poetry from a variety of cultures from Moslem (like Rumi, Omar Khayam) to French and Afro Caribbean writers. I think learning English should be broad and interesting and make people think. My teaching method is through a conversational approach, short written exercises for identifying strengths and weaknesses, building on strengths and working on areas that require a structured approach for improvement. Teaching Experience:
I have many years of voluntary work experience in teaching English to children and adults whose first language is not English and also I have experience in teaching Basic Urdu to a few friends. I have completed a course in accelerated learning methods.
As I too have learnt a language I do understand the challenges people have when learning a language. This helps me in my teaching style and methods.
I believe that learning should be enjoyable.
I have recently completed a course for students of English and Urdu.
I am now looking for my tutees.

Tutoring Approach:
My approach to teaching is that learning needs to be fun and enjoyable. I did not enjoy school because of the classroom environment so I want my tutoring to be different. I aim to adapt my teaching to the persons individual needs.

As a fully qualified primary school teacher with fifteen years experience in the classroom and five years as a tutor working privately and in schools, I understand that all children are different but all can be successful with an approach tailored specifically to them. I use a wide range of strategies appropriate to the individual needs of your child based on my teaching experience in every year group from Year 1 to Year 6 and leadership in core subjects at several schools rated Outstanding by OFSTED.

Teaching Experience:
With significant experience in teaching the full national curriculum to every year group in key stages 1 and 2, I can provide an enhanced learning experience for every child in all aspects of Maths and English and their application in other curriculum subjects by drawing on the very best of modern and traditional teaching methods. I also have experience working with children with a range of additional needs. These include Aspergers, Autism, Downs Syndrome, ADHD, Global Delay, Dyslexia, Dyspraxia and Discalculia.

Tutoring Approach:
I use quality resources to make learning accessible and meaningful, creating and adapting everything I use to ensure the learning is tailored to the learner. Interesting, engaging and constantly adapting to the needs of your child as and when they emerge I ensure learning is enjoyable but also challenging. I tutor both privately and in schools, where much of my work has been through the National Tutoring Program - enabling children to catch up from learning missed during the pandemic.

Im 20 years old.

Currently a student at uni, studying social work bsc.

I want to do this because it be a great experience, great on my CV and working with children is the key area to my career aspiration. As a bonus I get paid to study myself and for the child, that's a no brainer.

Teaching Experience:
Currently in university studying social work.
I have passed my maths, English and art at a grade C-B.
I earned triple distinction on my btec health and social level 2 and 3.

Therefore I do have a lot of knowledge on certain policies and laws, especially if your looking into health and social jobs. I can teach easy English, writing and reading.

I am special myself (autistic) so i understand how to work with special needs children.

I have worked with children at a youth club and at children's hospital based in Birmingham.

Tutoring Approach:
I don't tend believe that teaching has to be serious and strict, I believe it should be fun, so that the child would want to study not to be forced to study.

I stand by that, as it says a lot about my character, I'm friendly, open minded and always, always put the child's needs at first because how can a child succeed whilst the implements/recognition of support are not in place? Therefore I do take different approaches to studying rather than a pen and a paper.

My philosophy is embedded in valuing children to increase well-being and their intrinsic motivation to develop and learn. I support children in reading, writing and phonics from 3 years and throughout the primary phase through purposeful, engaging and interactive activities.
I hold a First-Class BA Hons degree in English and graduated as a mature student whilst raising three children and working part time. This achievement was celebrated by the Open University in their publications, in the local press and I was asked to speak on local radio. I went on to gain a Post Graduate Certificate of Education with Qualified Teacher Status and studied English as a special interest area; gaining an A grade pass at master's level for my research into promoting and developing children as readers. I also write children's poetry and have had several poems published.

Teaching Experience:
I am a raising attainment adviser for a local authority and have been involved in borough wide school improvement for several years. I have developed outstanding teaching practice and leadership skills throughout Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2. I am an experienced EYFS Leader and Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Coordinator and a Specialist Leader of Education for Early Years. As an Assistant Headteacher, I have supported other teachers and been a Newly Qualified Teacher mentor and performance appraiser. I have worked across EYFS, Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 as an English and Reading Leader and have introduced new curriculums with improved outcomes in phonics and reading and writing across key stages and in statutory assessments.

The resources I use are tailored to your child's needs and learning style to make them feel motivated and encourage a 'can-do' attitude. There are also private waiting facilities adjacent to the room for parents or carers wishing to stay during tuition. I ensure that I thoroughly assess each child so that teaching and learning is bespoke to their next steps. This allows for maximum progress and the best results possible. I have a very positive attitude and my intention to make children feel like 'experts' encourages them to succeed. I have completed my scholarship PhD in sociology and ethnomusicology. I hold a Joint BA in English Literature and Creative Writing and an MA in Sociology and Social Policy.

Teaching Experience:
I am an experienced teacher and tutor, having taught GCSE and A Level English Language, Literature, Citizenship Studies and Study Skills in London at a Further Education college, independent school, and a faith based academy.

I have taught and tutored students at universities in London and Hull. I can give guidance and support for university students that need help with essay writing, proofreading and research methods.

Tutoring Approach:
I encourage students to understand the process and purpose of assessments so they become confident and independent learners. My teaching style is praised for being friendly, effective and confidence building.

I am a current PG student in Engineering at Newcastle University, I completed my Bachelors in Engineering as well in Electronics and Communication. I've completed my high school as a Science student in an English Medium School.

Teaching Experience:
I had the opportunity to take a communication session in my college back in my undergrad days. Apart from that I had taken a few classes for some modules for my undergrad classmates.

Tutoring Approach:
Based on the students area of concern , I will start from the basics and then gradually move towards more complex lessons while ensuring I take feedback from the student on my tutoring method so I can tweak my approach accordingly.

Personal Description:
I am a passionate English teacher with experience working with Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 students both in mainstream school settings, as well as online as part of alternative provision for both groups and 1:1. I have experience working with students with high anxiety and social/emotional/mental health challenges that present a barrier to accessing lessons in school, or benefit from further tuition. I have a lot of experience working with students with SEND, particularly students with ADHD, ASD and/or dyslexia. As well as supporting academic progress, I aim to ensure support with flourishing holistically too.

I currently live in Northern Ireland, but my career has been based in England (mainstream city schools in and around Norwich) and with students across England and Wales via an alternative provision supporting students via a virtual school. I have predominantly taught AQA English Language and AQA English Literature, but have experience with Eduqas and OCR too. I have a strong understanding of exam requirements and can adapt to teach other boards, as required by the student. I love to foster creativity through reading and writing, where possible tying this to student interests. I am friendly and approachable, always keen to hear more about what makes students happy. I am passionate about the great outdoors and love being around both sea and mountains, but having the option to curl up with some crafts or games when Irish weather makes for an indoor day.

Teaching Experience:
2 years working with Tute Education (Online Learning Provider/Alternative Provision): Working with students across England and Wales on both a 1:1 and group basis, teaching both English Language and Literature at KS3 and KS4 level. Lessons are conducted via online lessons within Tute's platform. I have worked on multiple projects to develop the curriculum and supported in developing best practice for practicing effective assessment for learning, metacognition and implementing Bloom's Taxonomy.

1 year working with Shaw Trust and HMPPS: Teaching adults on probation with life skills, communication, literacy and numeracy, and work skills.

2 years working with City Academy Norwich: Working as a Teacher of English, as well as a Second in Department in my second year, with responsibility for Key Stage 3 curriculum and assessment design, and literacy programmes across lower Key Stage 3. In this role I also took on pastoral responsibilities as a form tutor.

Teaching training placements in both a large inner-city school with high levels of SEND, EAL and socio-economic disadvantage, as well as a small, rural Ofsted Good school.

1 year as an English-specific Learning Support Assistant and Instructor within an inner-city school. This role involved supporting individual students and groups to engage with lessons and be supported with breaking down tasks, as well as stretching more-able students. Interventions were also provided as additional support for Year 11 groups in the lead up to exams.

Tutoring Approach:
My goal with tutoring to not just instruct students, but to empower them to be proactive learners. I am passionate about metacognition and aiding students in being aware of their thinking, maintaining curiosity and instilling faith in their beliefs and abilities. Learning should be enjoyable, but that does not mean we should not stretch ourselves. I aim for a balance of enjoyment and fun, with development of core skills. This is not just teaching to an exam, but teaching to be a life-long learner.
