Based in Wantage (Oxfordshire) Jim has been providing drum tuition to players of all ages and level of ability since 2003.

He has been teaching private drum tuition for 7 years from his home studio. Many of his students have been with him for a long time. His teaching is based largely on the Gigajam syllabus and he likes to think that he brings the syllabus to life and makes it interesting and relevant for his students.

Teaching Experience:
He always make sure that he tailors his teaching to suit each student as an individual and that he treats them as such. Regardless of their age or ability he gives them all the same amount of attention and always does his utmost to support and motivate them.

He has been a gigging drummer since the age of 14 and has played in numerous bands at numerous gigs and events. In July 2013, I graduated from Royal Holloway, University of London, undertaking a BMus (Hons) Music degree (2.1) with a principle study in singing (1st). I took two gap years before going to university to gain experience in the music and drama fields. I have studied modules at university ranging from Bach to Beethoven and Sibelius to Weill.

Teaching Experience:
In my two gap years I was a gap student at Bedales Schools for a term and then was invited back to cover a member of music staff. Responsibilities included teaching 8-13 year old mixed pupils classroom music as well as supervising music practices. I have a very laid-back attitude to teaching and will teach you in similar ways that I have been taught. I began teaching group lessons in school. After leaving school, I began training for the classroom, but I did not feel I could impact the individual in such a large group environment. While maintaining strong links with school curriculum, I began to pursue my career in individual instruction. I am a music graduate, with aims to go into music lecturing. I am about to start an MA in Applied Musicology at Utrecht University. I decided to start Skype tuition because it`s an incredibly effective medium for teaching, and also because I don`t stay in one place for longer than a year at the moment due to being a student.

I have been playing guitar since I was 8 years old, so for over 14 years now. I studied at Leeds College of Music for 2 years, and have recently graduated from Anglia Ruskin University with a BA(Hons) degree in Popular Music. I have played a range of styles, but find my favourite, and most developed, styles are funk and blues.

I have a BSc and an MSc in science and a PhD in engineering and have a theoretical and practical knowledge of maths and science. As well as that I have a lot of experience in industry and working around the world. I am a student studying Biomedical Science in the University of Sunderland with an integrated placement at the Royal Victoria Infirmary. I have a passion for teaching Maths, Science and English as they were some of my favourite subjects in school, and since it hasn't been very long since I've left my secondary education, I am well versed in those three subjects, science to a further level due to my degree. I hope I can be of help to all students, as I have a very specific methodology of teaching, personalised for each student, and will be happy to have the student's input too. I love teaching, as for me it's something to help the younger generation and support those who need my help.

Teaching Experience:
I teach English, Science and Maths right now to a couple students, however, some of my students have now reached University and no longer need my help. This means that I have space to take in more students for these subjects, though I can teach a range.
I have experience in teaching those younger than me in my school days, where I headed an afterschool session once a week for those who needed help with anything they were taught throughout the year. I also made sure they were prepared for exam season, making sure that they focused on exam papers, and learning and revising through making mistakes with those questions, rather than making notes.
I have helped students with improving their musical talents as well, as I have played the piano and learnt singing to a high level (Grade 8 Piano and Grade 7 singing), and this helped me learn better communication with students as well as their parents.
I also work part time in the NHS, this allows me to be amazing on time management and I am incredibly hard working. I wish to support my students in every way I can.

Tutoring Approach:
I have been taught online as well as helped students online with interview preparation. I found it incredibly fulfilling and much easier than travelling around to places, which can be difficult with those with big workloads or don't have much time during their day. I have taught online during the weekends, as it is much easier to fill up time and space, and think it is the best case scenario for everyone. However, I do understand that doing tutoring online might seem like a waste of time, but I feel as though online tutoring can help students concentrate for longer as they have the ability to do it in their own home.
