I'm 43 years old and live near Bordon, Hampshire. I have been speaking French and Italian for about 20 years. My degree and my Masters degree are in History with Italian and Museum Studies with History respectively and I am very passionate about all of these subjects.

Teaching Experience:
I used to teach English as a Foreign Language in Italy both to large classes and giving one to one tuition and have also reached A-Level and Degree level in both French and Italian. I have worked at summer camps in the United States twice for 9 weeks each, living amongst 11-17 year olds 24/7 so have a great deal of patience! I am as open to teaching any young person who wants to learn and will adapt to whatever their needs and style of learning are.

I first began to take interest in education in late 2016 during my second year of studies at Falmouth University, after undertaking 'skills for music leaders' module, where I studied different approaches to formal and non-formal music education. In September 2017, I have taken my ambitions to teach guitar further and fully dedicated my third year of studies to learn about ethics in music education, and began work experience with Cornwall Music Service Trust. I have shadowed 3 guitar teachers as well as 1 violin teacher and learned how to work with children aged between 6-16. I have actively engaged during the lessons, and helped as much as it was possible. I observed their teaching style and studied how to apply it into my own practice, gaining very good references

At the age of sixteen I began studying piano with Sam Armstrong at the Junior Department of the Trinity Laban Conservatoire and have since enjoyed increasing success and recognition. My teaching has reading and listening at it's heart. The best thing I have done since coming to London is open my ears to all the styles I didn't like, listen over and over, until they started to grow on me! Music is a cultural and historical lesson as well, it's interesting to see where the popular styles of today came from! Reading will just make you more employable as all the session, musical theatre and holiday camp drummers will tell you! I use software such as Noteflight which allows me to playback scores, making sight reading an easier and more enjoyable process, and meaning I can share scores with students via email. Each student is also given a video recording of what we studied in the lesson, which is a very valuable resource, something they can take away from each lesson, and makes remembering what we learned much easier!

I come from a family where music is extremely important. At school, my first band was a rock covers band where my brother played bass. We played regularly in pubs in Dorset, (you may have heard of the Teddy Rocks festival, we played in the very first festival and have played with my band Last Resort ever since). I achieved top A level and GCSE results, and am passionate about passing my learning onto others. I am looking for students aged 11+ and have evening and weekend availability.

Teaching Experience:
I have extensive experience leading groups of a range of ages in a school environment as well as working with individuals to help them achieve their goals and further their skills in their area of interest. I have been tutoring for two years now, having started in my gap year, and I have thoroughly enjoyed helping pupils significantly increase their grades. My most recent GCSE students increased their science grades from 4s to 8s in around a year of tutoring. I also volunteer at a secondary school orchestra, working with players who are struggling, which often involves explaining concepts and recommending the most efficient practice methods, in a very similar way to when helping in an academic situation.
