Personal Description:
I am a friendly and approachable musician, songwriter and singer. I have been involved in music for many years in solo, group and large ensemble capacties. Among many music courses I have attended, my training includes a Diploma in Popular Music Performance at the highly commended Tech Music School in London, and a Fist Class Honours degree in Music Technology with Popular Music Performance.
I have been fully CRB checked to work with children.

Teaching Experience:

I have been teaching since 2001, initially primary and secondary aged students. This was performance based tutoring at weekend classes including some one to one sessions. I have done this in both Norfolk and London. I have also taught many one to one singing lessons with all ages between 6 and 65. I have since taught classes at college and degree level in various aspects of music, including performance music business history and theory.

Tutoring Approach:

I like to tailor my tutoring to each individual student's needs rather than using set lesson plans. My teaching style is based around enjoying the learning experience and building confidence. I like to engage with my students to the extent where the learning is a bi-product of the session without it feeling like hard work. I have found this to be a very popular technique that keeps students interested in the subject and looking forward to the next class.

Personal Description:
Leigh is a professional drummer, musician and teacher based in London, UK with years of live, studio and tuition experience behind him.

Leigh started playing drums at the age of 14 in Bournemouth, UK after many years listening to and obsessing over classic rock and heavy metal, playing his first show with a band after only about 2 weeks of having owned a drumset. After playing in several local rock bands around the area, Leigh began to study drums at school with the now iconic Tony Nash before heading to the University of Warwick in 2007, and studying drums at an advanced level with world-renowned players and educators such as Benny Greb, Thomas Lang, Derek Roddy, Tommy Igoe and Travis Orbin. It was at this time that he also began taking on students of his own, teaching around the West Midlands and also giving workshops and demonstrations at the University.

After this period of intensive and passionate study, Leigh graduated in 2011 and was immediately welcomed into The Rhythm Studio faculty where he quickly rose to become one of the principal staff in the drum department, teaching private drum lessons to numerous students spanning a wide age, interest and ability spectrum.

Launched in late 2012, the drum stream of The Rhythm Studio's new flagship Rock & Pop Academy courses have been taught and assessed exclusively by Leigh, with much of the material being modelled on his own personal teaching method. The students on this course have progressed astonishingly well, and under his guidance Leigh's private students continue to excel, with a 100% pass rate with Distinction for all grade exams taken after tuition with Leigh.

Whilst he continues to share his knowledge, away from education Leigh's primary focus is his progressive metal band, Beneath Dead Waves, which he co-founded. After years of composition and cultivation, Beneath Dead Waves will release its debut album Inertia in Q3 of 2013, with a full supporting UK tour.

Leigh also composes and performs with London-based rock outfit Hellcat Molly, who have an EP in the works, and has also performed several recording and live session duties with UK shock rocker Al B Damned, providing drums for his last 2 records. His live session history also includes shows at prestigious venues such as London's SCALA club. During his time at Warwick, Leigh played live with several other artists, playing shows in Birmingham, Leamington Spa & Coventry. He also continues to teach students in the area via Skype.

With Beneath Dead Waves about to launch, Leigh's schedule now allows him to take on many more private students, and he has recently joined the Drumsense network with Colin Woolway, which is fast emerging as the world's premier programme for drumset education. He is also currently constructing his own personal website, which will contain much more information and media, will host a wealth of instructional material on also act as his online educational vehicle, with plans for an online drum school/video lesson curriculum in their formative stages.

If you would like to study with Leigh in the comfort of your own home or studio, please contact him through this site.

Teaching Experience:

A passionate and experienced drummer and teacher, I am looking to expand my student base and seek fresh tuition opportunities with new players and students. I have several years of tuition experience (both privately and through music schools), and also a wealth of live and studio experience with various artists.

A confident teacher with methods of proven success, I am able to cover and enjoy teaching most modern styles of music to students of all ages and abilities (from 6-year-old new starters right through to veteran touring players twice my age, and everything in between!) and specialise in contemporary rock and advanced drumset playing.

Below is some more information regarding my tuition experience and my educational method:

PRIVATE TUITION/DRUMSENSE:
• I've been teaching privately for several years, initially around the Coventry and Birmingham area before relocating to London and establishing a student base in areas such as Ladbroke Grove, Holland Park and Euston. Whilst visiting these students in person, I continue to teach students in the West Midlands - and more recently, the USA and Canada - via Skype (please contact me to discuss online tuition).
• Able to travel pretty much anywhere in London, I currently teach my students in the comfort of their own homes (though I am currently taking steps to acquire my own teaching space) from my own materials, which have been carefully assembled and are based on experience amassed from not only teaching, but also live and studio performance.
• More recently, I have become a fully certified instructor of Colin Woolway's Drumsense teaching programme, which I have integrated into my own methods to provide a comprehensive and enjoyable learning experience.

As a tutor, I offer:
• A clear, structured learning approach with an emphasis on focus and setting goals
• All rhythmic theory and technique to advanced levels
• Years of experience teaching all ages and levels across a full spectrum of styles and subjects
• Genuine enthusiasm for helping beginners take their first steps on the instrument
• Relaxed, informal attitude and commitment to helping my students develop to their own full potential

THE RHYTHM STUDIO:
Aside from my private Drumsense tuition, I am also currently a leading member of the Rhythm Studio (Ladbroke Grove, W10) drum faculty. My responsibilities and contributions here have included (but are not limited to):
• One-to-one and group drum instruction across a broad spectrum of ages (with students as young as 6 and some as old as 50) and abilities, having taught those who have never held a stick before right through to seasoned touring professionals.
• Course instructor and content contributor of the Rock and Pop Academy course (tiered, graded syllabus of music performance skills), I alone have taught and assessed the drumming portion of the course since its inception. I am responsible for all instruction and grading of all students in the drum stream, with much of the course material being based on my personal teaching method which I have been using with my students for several years.
• I am the first member of teaching staff to deliver group drum lessons. After much success and great popularity, this developed into the aforementioned Rock & Pop Academy drum syllabus.
• I also pride myself in holding a 100% pass rate with Distinction for all my students who enter into Rockschool grade examinations with The Rhythm Studio.

Additional responsibilities:
• Admission assessments
• Progress reports for children
• Helping with organisation and co-ordination for all school showcase concerts
• Running classes for underprivileged children through the Rhythm Studio
Foundation
• Member of the Faculty Band
• Keyholder and money handler

GUEST TUITION APPEARANCES:
• Guest tutor by invitation at the 2010 International Guitar Foundation (IGF) Rock Camp at the Guitar Institute in London, delivering a self-written one hour masterclass; 'Rhythmic Subdivision & Manipulation in a Contemporary Metal Context'.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION/OTHER DETAILS:
• Confident and experienced performer and educator
• Several years of teaching experience, and also a seasoned touring player, having toured nationwide with a variety of bands and artists
• Studied privately for many years with world-reknown instructors such as Thomas Lang (private tuition and Bootcamp attendee), Benny Greb (Mastersession attendee), Travis Orbin and Tony Nash
• Specialist drumset technique instructor, teaching modern concepts such as advanced foot technique and multi-pedal/double bass drum playing, contemporary coordination, independence and interdependence, and also rudimental studies with a view to increasing improvisation skills and creativity
• Able to record and/or program professional drum tracks to order
• Strong knowledge of modern day electronic drum sets, e.g. Roland V-Drums and Yamaha DTX

I also hold the following additional certificates:
• Bush Fire Safety and Awareness Training Course - pass mark 100%

My fees are as follows:

• 30-minute home-visit session: £20.00 (£15 lesson rate + £5 to cover time and expense of travel)
• 45-minute home-visit session: £27.50 (£22.50 lesson rate + £5 to cover time and expense of travel)
• 60-minute home-visit session: £35.00 (£30 lesson rate + £5 to cover time and expense of travel)

I am also happy to teach longer sessions and run week-long intensive courses - please contact to discuss rates.

Discounts are also available for large block bookings - please contact to discuss.

All listed prices include student handouts and all supplementary lesson material (given either to the student during sessions or sent via e-mail), such as practice charts, summary sheets and playalong tracks.

Tutoring Approach:

A passionate and experienced drummer and teacher, I seek fresh tuition opportunities with new students. A confident teacher with methods of proven success, I am comfortable teaching most modern styles of music to students of all ages and abilities.

I teach the following genres/styles:
• Rock
• Pop
• Funk
• Fusion
• Heavy metal
• Drum N' Bass
• R n' B
• Jazz
• Bebop

Also providing specialist technique studies:
• Rudiments
• Hand & foot technique - from basic grips to advanced systems such as Moeller method and constant-release kick technique
• Contemporary coordination concepts; independence & interdependence
• Sight reading & rhythm knowledge

In addition, I can also offer my students:
• Gear maintenance lessons, advice and support (this includes full kit set-up and tuning service)
• Assistance with realistic goal-setting, and creating effective and practical practice schedules
• Audition and examination preparation sessions
• Long-term mentoring and advice on further education/career options

I am able to cover and enjoy teaching most modern styles of music to students of all ages and abilities, from 6-year-old new starters right through to veteran touring players twice my age, and everything in between!

I am happy and confident in delivery any kind of drum lesson to any kind of student, whether it's your first drum lesson and you need to throne lowered so that you can actually reach the pedals, right through to instruction on contemporary coordination concepts, independence and interdependence, and cutting edge, high-end 21st century drumming techniques.

I do not force my students to enter any sort of grade exams or follow their systems, as I feel my own teaching method combined with the Drumsense programme provides a comprehensive and enjoyable learning experience, in which all areas in syllabii such as those of Rockschool and Trinity Guildhall are covered.

I feel my method not only covers that material, but also educates the student on a much deeper level (covering subjects which some grade exams do not), and also holds (in my opinion) far more relevance to modern day music, having a much more readily available contemporary application. In fact, many of my students who have followed my methods have requested to occasionally be entered for such exams (for school entrance, etc.), and are immediately fluent with the material - all passed with distinction.

That said, I am happy to follow Rockschool and Trinity Guildhall syllabii from the outset if you wish.

I am also available for tuition via Skype, and already teach many students in the USA, Canada (and even some students in the Midlands) via this platform. This is useful for mentoring, progress reports, exercise dictation for the more advanced player and general career advice. I also use this platform to monitor some of my students who currently board at specialist music colleges.

As with tuition in person, this service also includes emails of exercises and practice routines in .pdf form, and I can also offer online tuition via video exchange - that is, the student records themselves playing and talking about their progress/asking for help etc., and then I record a video response back to that student, commenting on their initial video and providing support.

Please contact me to further discuss this service/rates.

Personal Description:
I am an avid musician and educationalist, with a passion for sharing my interests in music and learning with children and young adults. As a parent and trained Teacher, I can see from different perspectives the different aspects of learning in life, and am keen to foster a love of learning whenever I am involved with a child or young person. I am also a qualified Music Therapist, and run my own music therapy service which you are welcome to enquire about.

Teaching Experience:

I have 7 years experience working in a Special Needs school working across the 11-19 age range primarily, with much crossover into Primary and Early Years. When my children were at nursery I worked closely with the team to develop their behaviour management and early communication skills, giving me a different range of experiences to call upon. I have also taught private music lessons with great client satisfaction for almost 20 years.

Tutoring Approach:

I am experienced in adapting my approach to delivery depending on context, having worked in classrooms, with learner orchestras, and in 1:1 settings. Fun and enjoyment should be central to a successful learning experience, and I try to ensure a relaxed approach in sessions facilitates this.

Personal Description:
Hello to everyone,
I'm a 26 years old Hungarian saxophone player recently moved to London, and looking forward to teach music.

After successfully completing my bachelor in Jazz Saxophone at the Conservatoire of Trento (Italy), I moved to Milan where I have balanced studies and work for almost 2 years. Although I specialise in saxophone and jazz, I am able to teach the recorder, flute, and (classical) music theory.

I started learning music with the Kodaly method at the age of 5 and have been studying, playing and teaching music ever since. As a freelance and private saxophone and flute teacher, I always try to apply that same method when teaching my students.

I have a great experience of performing with various big bands and smaller groups, such as quartet and trio formation in Hungary and Italy as well.

Teaching Experience:

I was teaching in the past three years in Italy, private students and in a music school as well. Most of my students were complete beginners when we met, so I have experience of teaching the basics of music and make the students like what they do.

Tutoring Approach:

My lessons cover topics like: tone production, breathing, articulation, music reading, improvisation, music theory (classical and jazz), ear training, repertoir.
I'm teaching saxophone, flute and recorder in a personalized way. I teach what the students are interested in.
In my lessons I use american books such as Jim Grantham JazzMaster Cookbook, Joe Viola books, Jerry Bergonzi, Bob Mintzer and Jim Snidero methods.

Teaching Experience:

10 years teaching experience in private tutoring. During that time I have had student progress from just starting to Grade 8 in 2 years.

Tutoring Approach:

Different people learn best in different ways - either by showing, doing or letting them do more self-study and allowing longer to absorb new information with tasks and goals - I adapt my teaching to how students learn best.

Personal Description:
I hold Associateship from the Royal College of Organists (ARCO) and a performance degree with honours from Trinity College of Music. I am currently Director of Music and organist at a church in Enfield, Freezywater and I enjoy conducting, performing, accompanying, rehearsing and sight-reading. I conducted the Festival Chorus singing the Handel's Messiah in Paris and last year organised three choirs to sing Faure's Requiem Mass. I am a very versatile musician and able to play the piano, harpsichord, voice, violin, viola, guitar and percussion. In recent years I have toured with the Hitchen Concert Band (Spain, Belgium) leading the percussion section. Musical engagements this year include accompanying the Enfield Choral Society at St Luke's Church and a solo piano performance including works by Chopin and Rachmaninoff.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught piano for 18 years and the organ for the last 10 years. As a music teacher within secondary school, for the last 7 years, I am always looking for opportunities to inspire the students and get them involved in making music. As a result of this, I have learnt how to motivate students and inspire them to practice music with great results. I have a 100 percent pass rate for GCSE and ABRSM exams and I have a wide range of skills including, knowledge of audio equipment, PA systems and a firm grasp on subject knowledge to degree level including the history and theory of music. In addition I have a firm understanding of music technology in particular Cubase, Garageband, Audacity and Sibelius.

Tutoring Approach:

Hello, I'm a friendly, experienced piano and theory teacher that will guide all ages to reach their musical ambitions, from beginner to professional. I can take students through all levels of classical study and jazz/pop.

Personal Description:
***Although my location is listed as Todmorden, I also teach from Hebden Bridge and Leeds!***

I am a professional drummer with a wealth of experience playing, from touring internationally to studying at Leeds College of Music. My teaching is flexible and focused on you as an individual, creating a friendly environment to learn the genres that you're interested in. I hold a BA (Hons) in Popular Music Performance, with a focus on pop drumming. My specialism lies in pop and rock drums, and I can teach all styles up to an intermediate level (and pop/rock well beyond!).

I understand that drumming can be particularly intimidating to take up, especially as a beginner. My focus is on teaching in a no-pressure, friendly environment to ensure that you learn the best you can. After all, if it's not fun, it's not going to stick!

Please note, I operate a cancellation policy. Lessons cancelled within 24 hours of the scheduled time will incur the full cost of the lesson.

I also offer lessons on a sliding scale for those on low/no income. There are limited slots available on a sliding scale; please get in touch for more info.

My pronouns are they/them/theirs.

Teaching Experience:

I have experience teaching a variety of subjects and age ranges, from English to drums, group lessons to individual tuition, and 5-year-olds to adults, so I understand that everyone learns differently and has different interests and preferences. Each lesson is tailored to your interests, whilst ensuring you learn (or refresh) the basics you need to play any music. I also hold a full enhanced DBS certificate.

For experienced students, lessons focusing on a specific aspects of playing are available, from Moeller technique to independence & co-ordination, groove, odd time signatures - the list goes on! I also work with students to create practice plans, developing techniques to get the most out of practice time.

Tutoring Approach:

My goal is to get more people, and more diversity, into drumming. As a transgender musician, I am keenly aware of how intimidating it can be to step into this world. My lessons are focused around each student's individual needs, with a mind to increasing confidence and getting more people into this wonderful art form!

My approach is to make learning drums accessible to anyone who has the itch. We all learn differently, and we all bring our own experiences to the drums; it is my role to enable this the best I can!

Personal Description:
Hi, I'm Charlie. I'm a 25 year old Musician and Graduate from the Academy Of Contemporary Music in Guildford.

I specialise in guitar, production and guidance through GCSE and A level work. I have been playing guitar since Junior school, whilst also singing and developing into a songwriter. I have vast experiences of being graded on my performances, my songwriting and production work.

Teaching Experience:

I spent my work experience in my secondary school as a teachers assistant, supporting in year 7-10 music lessons (aged 11-16). Throughout this I helped out with organising lesson plans, whilst also advising and guiding students during their work periods.

Alongside this, I also have experience running workshops with younger primary school students (6-8 years old) these were more lighthearted, friendly introductions into music as a subject.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to tutoring is relaxed, supportive, and tailored to each individual. I start by getting to know where you're at, what you'd like to achieve, and how you learn best. Whether you're aiming to master Grade 5 theory, improve your GCSE or A-Level coursework, develop your guitar playing, or dive into music production with Ableton or Logic Pro, I'll help break things down into manageable steps that suit your pace and style. The goal is to build confidence, keep things engaging, and make sure you're always moving forward toward your musical goals.

Personal Description:
I am a student studying Biomedical Science in the University of Sunderland with an integrated placement at the Royal Victoria Infirmary. I have a passion for teaching Maths, Science and English as they were some of my favourite subjects in school, and since it hasn't been very long since I've left my secondary education, I am well versed in those three subjects, science to a further level due to my degree. I hope I can be of help to all students, as I have a very specific methodology of teaching, personalised for each student, and will be happy to have the student's input too. I love teaching, as for me it's something to help the younger generation and support those who need my help.

Teaching Experience:

I teach English, Science and Maths right now to a couple students, however, some of my students have now reached University and no longer need my help. This means that I have space to take in more students for these subjects, though I can teach a range.
I have experience in teaching those younger than me in my school days, where I headed an afterschool session once a week for those who needed help with anything they were taught throughout the year. I also made sure they were prepared for exam season, making sure that they focused on exam papers, and learning and revising through making mistakes with those questions, rather than making notes.
I have helped students with improving their musical talents as well, as I have played the piano and learnt singing to a high level (Grade 8 Piano and Grade 7 singing), and this helped me learn better communication with students as well as their parents.
I also work part time in the NHS, this allows me to be amazing on time management and I am incredibly hard working. I wish to support my students in every way I can.

Tutoring Approach:

I have been taught online as well as helped students online with interview preparation. I found it incredibly fulfilling and much easier than travelling around to places, which can be difficult with those with big workloads or don't have much time during their day. I have taught online during the weekends, as it is much easier to fill up time and space, and think it is the best case scenario for everyone. However, I do understand that doing tutoring online might seem like a waste of time, but I feel as though online tutoring can help students concentrate for longer as they have the ability to do it in their own home.
