Hi, my name is Maahi, and I am currently a student at St Dominic's 6th form, studying Biology, Chemistry and Mathematics at a level. I received an outstanding set of GCSE grades and my set of results was even published in the school newspaper. I like helping younger students in any way possible, in year 10, I helped those who have come from foreign countries or have a lower reading level and have difficulty reading to become fluent readers through a 'reading buddies' programme. That was when I realised that I am good at teaching and helping students. My passion for mathematics developed from a young age. My school education initially fuelled this interest, as my primary and secondary teachers, and the resources that they provided were excellent. After leaving school, I studied engineering and computing for two years although I inevitably returned to my favourite subject and completed a sandwich degree in mathematics in Dundee. This included a year's I.T. work experience in Berkshire and Lancashire. After graduating I gained a further year's I.T work experience in Chester and Warrington. This was followed by a Post Grad in Software Engineering in Dundee. Yet again, the pull of my favourite subject was too strong. It was then that I completed a Post Grad in Education for secondary mathematics in Glasgow. This included teaching mathematics in two of the local schools. After graduating, I taught in a further two schools back in Dundee. In 2004 however, I chose to dedicate my time to full time private tuition in mathematics as further explained in my experience.

From a young age, I have always enjoyed helping family members and friends with school maths. I have also enjoyed helping various people in further education. Having enjoyed providing maths tuition in the comfort of the student's own home for many years, I am now very keen to help more parents who live in Scotland and further afield. To do this my goals now include continuing using my previous strong foundations, experience and teaching methods using the readily available video conferencing tools, so parents can now have the flexibility of asking for a home or online lesson, or even both if they have this preference.
In a constantly developing learning world, my hope is that by providing these extra choices I can play my part in making learning a more flexible, resourceful and enjoyable experience for our young generation, and our mature students.

Personal Description:
I am Viren, a graduate in Science with Distinction from BITS Pilani. I have Level 3 Award in Education and Training. I love teaching and have tutored my classmates at school and university. I tutored my children and both went to top UK universities. I am good at understanding where the student needs help and ensure they understand the concepts well. I believe that strong fundamentals are essential to learning, not just a focus on doing well in exams

Teaching Experience:
For the last 20 years, I have conducted a number of corporate trainings for my team and mentored them on various areas. I love teaching and have tutored my classmates at school and university. I would help them in Maths and all 3 sciences. At uni, a good part of my studies would be done just by tutoring my friends in Maths (topics like Probability, Algebra, trigonometry) Chemistry (organic and inorganic) and human biology. I tutored my children and both went to top UK universities. Now I wish to take time out to formally start tutoring, a thing I really enjoy doing. I have Level 3 Award in Education and Training.

Tutoring Approach:
I believe that each student is different and needs a very specific approach. I will first try to ensure that the concept and the base of the subject is strong before we go on to a number of past paper questions and exercises. I believe that the best way to learn is to see how any problem can be tackled, go through the thought process and then apply what you know to the specific problem and solve it.

I will first see what the student finds most difficult and what their weaknesses are and then strive to overcome them. Each student will have their own learning methods, some may learn by understanding the whole concept then going into the exam questions, some want to go through exam questions while they are learning the concept to see how the theory can be applied to the problems. Some may learn visually with experiments or examples whereas others will learn through trial and improvement of their own. I will spend the first session finding out how they like to learn and design a program just right for that individual student.
Hopefully once we start tutoring, the students will feel much more confident with the subject and the key to success for any exam is self confidence. I will always be there as a guide, a mentor, a friend to help them through what they find difficult.

Personal Description:
A qualified maths teacher and Chartered Civil Engineer with over 20 years' experience in the civil engineering industry. I am able to quickly identify areas of maths knowledge that requires improving in order to pass exams and also help learners to relate maths to the real world.

Teaching Experience:
My maths teaching experience has covered senior school, 6th Form, Further Education and Higher Education.

Tutoring Approach:
I can offer online tutoring over Zoom (or similar) as well as face to face - I am passionate about supporting people with their educational development goals. Being able to relate to learners struggles and difficulties in understanding maths, I have proven methods and skillsets that allow my learners to flourish in any area of mathematics they require assistance with.

Whether you require some intensive sessions in the run up to exams, have yet to be successful in maths or require the whole syllabus covered, I am here to help. Many of my learners have had poor prior experience with maths education or educational challenges/special educational needs that have, with my help, been able to realise their full potential.
